Lots of speculation that Gendry is with Jon and the Brotherhood during that battle beyond the wall. Specifically from the overhead shot of all the guys in a circle.
I didn't read the books so sometimes have trouble keeping up with things that happened prior to the series, for example, tales of young Ned and the Mad King.
I need to watch the episode again with young Ned in the tower as am not clear on that story-line and it looks like it will figure prominently in the new season. Help!

That scene happens near the end of Robert Baratheon's rebellion. Robert has sent Ned to retrieve Ned's sister Lyanna, who has been sent away from the fighting by Prince Rhaegar Targaryen (the Mad King's son and heir), and who they believe is being held captive by the Mad King's Kingsguard.
When Ned gets to the tower he finds Lyanna dying from child birth. She asks Ned to protect her and Rhaegar's child and not tell Robert, because he would kill the child. That child is Jon Snow.
So Jon Snow is actually part Targaryen and part Stark, and not Ned's bastard.
Here's the scene for easy reference:

I have been able to avoid 99% of spoilers and just started watching GOT about a weeks ago. Am sitting mid-way thru season 2 and plan on trying to catch up in time for the new season.
Unreal show, can't believe I'm just starting it.

5 years late and you managed to avoid most spoilers? I'm impressed you get Wi-Fi in the Cave that you live in, hows the reception?

So after the first few episodes leaked back in S5, HBO has sure tightened things up. It seems like a lot of the major plot points for S7 can be found if you want to poke around online...but barely a week until the start of S7, there are finally some episode titles (for only the first three episodes) out there. Even the titles and brief press copy/synopses could be considered spoilers, so tread carefully.
