I'd be ok with a Schlemko return too. 2.1M cap hit for 3 more years. He's only 30. Would be a fine #6.

"Might"!?!?!? I don't know what the answer is, but if we have to deal with the Oilers with our current puppy poo soft roster it isn't going to go well.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
So now we see who VGK flip over the next few days. TVR, Schlemko, Methot, Emelin, among those who could go.

It will be interesting to see the player evaluation without any emotional bias. GM might take less than market value to unload some of these guys.

I would really like to see Schlemko back as our 5/6th D.

I'd sooner see Kulak as our LHD on the 3rd pairing.

We have to take our Flames goggles off an realize Kulak probably isn't nearly as good a player as we think he is. He has no value across the league or LV would have picked him to flip him or even just to take a look. I do agree with the organization giving their drafted and developed players a better chance than they have been doing. I just don't know if Kulak is an NHL player.
After holding GM's hostage for the last month the tables will turn on McPhee as GM's know he can't carry all those defensemen and has to unload them. I don't see any large returns for these depth guys he has available. That said even if he gets 3rd round picks they were essentially free picks he's getting.

Kulak is not waiver exempt this coming season so that is probably the biggest reason they didn't select him. If he didn't make the Knights the likely lose him for nothing.

Of all the Dmen that are rumored to move I would absolutely love for the Flames to land Hamonic. 27 years old, big, mean, right shot, signed for 3 more years at under $4M per. The Flames could likely still sign Stone if they could acquire Hamonic due to the low cap.
16th pick + prospect?

All I want for a trade is for the Oilers to get hosed in an Eberle deal.

People here in Edmonton believe a deal with the Islanders will happen.

Maybe the should throw a first and a second with him. They seem to like throwing those away.

Losing him for nothing? They could have claimed him for nothing.
No, the biggest reason is that he isn't very good. He's a fringe NHL 7th defenseman with the potential to be a fringe NHL bottom pairing defender. If there was any interest at all in him around the league, they grab him. Since there isn't, they wouldn't need to be afraid of losing him for nothing on waivers.
