Didn't want the Flames to keep him but at those dollars not bad.

So $2M AAV? I would have thought he would have wanted a longer term to play at home (and at a discount); scratching my head a bit on that one.

I'll miss Engo for sure. The consummate Flame.

I would have easily brought him back for that term and dollar. I wasn't a fan of the signing at first, but he definitely grew on me throughout his time here. Wish him the best in Vegas.

Hate losing him, but age and the fact we need to get younger meant it was likely time. What a great team guy he is.

We need to sign someone to fight that Neanderthal from Edmonton.

I'm fine with this. Guy in the twilight of his career does a hometown deal.

Next step is to find a truculent replacement.

The dude who likes to punch two goons at once is the subject of this thread (and sadly no longer a Flame).

the best 5th defensemen in the league. Played his role, stepped up into the top 4 when need be. Sad to see him go but I guarantee he would have gone there as a UFA

Engelland was solid last year, but it was time for him to move on. The Flames need to look for someone younger internally or externally to take his spot. Time for at least one of Kulak/Andersson/Wotherspoon/Kylington to take a 3rd pairing spot.

I want a bottom D pair that isn't a Corsi/Fenwick/puck possession disaster.

I don't give a #### how tough everybody is, as long as we have the puck all the time it doesn't F-ing matter.

Yeah he was getting better but honestly I'm not going to miss the games of the Brodie-Engelland pairing.. Thar pair was good for the first playoffs and then pretty miserable after that.
Much much much much preferred Brodie-Stone.

Good luck Eng but I was definitely ready to move on.

Wow, never thought for a second about the potential of LV taking Engelland for his negotiating rights. Really though it was plain as day if we actually looked. Flames literally didn't lose a thing today that wasn't already gone.

He'd be a 35+ contract so there's a bit of extra risk in giving him more then 1 year at a time.

They should just sign Big Ern and just play him against the Oilers. Have him beat up 1 of the 3 stooges each period. That should neuter them. Then Bennett can go beat the crap out of McDavid.

Guy spent ten years in the minors. Finally makes the big league. His payday with the Flames. Takes a hometown dea with Vegas.

Nice story.

Craig Button hired a bunch of undrafted kids and stuck 'em in Lowell. One was Mark Giordano.

He was a good Flame, tough as nails and a solid vet for the young guys. But I think the Flames make out nicely in thi's expansion draft.
