I think social punishment is going to be worse than the legal punishment in this case.

How do you even sentence a guy taking upskirt pictures? Jail time? For some reason, that doesn't quite make sense...but what else is there?

It would seem that you want to have a forum where it is OK to call someone an idiot.
That's not what this forum is.
We think people should treat each other with respect. We are not going to tolerate bullying, name calling and attacking of posters.
You seem to think that this has been a change. It has not. It has never been acceptable.

I would caution you on guessing why any specific posters have been banned, though again, calling someone an idiot is not something that is tolerated here.

If people think that a post is out of line, including the one above, then please report it and we will address it with the poster in question.

But if you want this to be a place where you can freely attack another poster - then it may not be the right place for you. Which is OK. The internet is a big place, and you can find more than enough other places that will allow you to engage in that type of behavior.

But not on here.

And we think that's OK.

I personally believe the forum is above "death by firing squad" statements and some social shame might be an order. Dumb, hateful, vindictive comments like this reflect poorly on the community. His comment would have gone unnoticed when he created this dormant account in 07, but we've come a long way since then.

Is it a matter of tact? "You're an idiot" isn't allowed, how about "your opinion is idiotic"?

We have addressed those posts with the user. One of the reasons it would be helpful if people reported these posts is so we don't have to go back and find all the times they were quoted.

We generally say people should argue the opinion not the poster, though saying "your opinion is idiotic" isn't really a compelling counterpoint so we hope people will choose to do more than that.

I tend to disagree with a lot of what oyu have said considering I have been attacked and called these names and I was the one who was suspended.

It is almost like many of the "main/super" users get a lot more leeway with what they can say.

Just my two cents.

Back to the topic at hand, give the guy what should be counselling and help and rehabilitate him. If this can not be done look at putting him in some sort of program for people like him.
