Do the Flames have to protect a goalie?(Are there any penalties if the Flames don't protect a goalie.) It is looking like they might not protect one(unless they trade for one(which is looking very unlikely right now) or if they sign Elliott or Johnson.

They have to protect a goalie, but they can put Elliott or Johnson on their list to fill that spot. It's a nothingburger problem.

Neal would be a great fit as a top line winger. Treliving should absolutely be in on that.

Will be interesting to see if teams do use LV as a way to get players from other teams. Vegas could use this as a way to accrue a ton of picks/prospects. Would be a smart move for them too. I'd be asking for more picks from next year's draft though if I were them since this draft is considered so weak depth-wise.

The Golden Knights do have to build a full roster so there's probably a finite amount of draft picks they are willing go take on in lieu of warm bodies. For example they may prefer the Flames trade them a prospect close to NHL ready such as Andersson.

@FriedgeHNIC: Because of protection issues, word is FLA's Jonathan Marchessault is potentially available. 30 goals, great contract.
pros for the Flames: RHS, can play RW, $750k cap hit
cons: 5'9'' last season could be a flash in the pan, protection list issues
