His version of epistemology is essentially full-on Darwinian - if a proposition tends to lead to our survival, it is true. If it does not, it is false. That's what he means when he says something is "true". That's some pretty ####ing crazy nonsense, right there.

I don't see anything wrong with transsexuals.

Nobody is saying there is anything wrong with transgender, the post is about a specific spa banning male genitalia.
If anything the thread is about is there something wrong with the spa's stance.

How will they enforce this rule? Do a cup check after you enter the locker room or at the registration desk?

Well...it's a nude spa. It'll be pretty evident post-disrobing...

I agree, but it's a respectable position to hold.

This is just another example.
Getting a glimpse at a dick isn't going to kill you, being ostracized and marginalized will. Take a look at the suicide rates for transgender individuals and then tell me none of them have a problem being banned from places like this.

I think you're projecting too. This isn't an access to the appropriate bathroom issue. No one is being ostracized here. If trans women were actually upset about it there would be mention of it in the article. You're just over correcting which is understandable given the appalling way we've treated trans people in the past.

Explain the reasoning behinf the penis ban.
A lesbian woman is permitted to attend the premises. Therefore it doesn't appear to be from the perspective that the person will be checking out those they are sexually attracted to.
How about a transgendered female that is attarcted to men but hasnt had their surgery yet so they still have a penis? This person is unwelcome in the spa because women fear the sight of her penis?

Yes women may be uncomfortable with the sight of a random penis. THis is not unreasonable at all to me to assume some women would feel uncomfortable.
Different cultures, different upbringings, different levels of confidence in their bodies. A lot may also consider the transgender individual "still a man"
Why don't they just let men into this club if a random penis isn't a big deal?

As long as it's innocent. When the penis is excited it tends to grow.

Well my dad taught me words to live by in kindergarten. Boys have a penis and girls have a vagina. Son , if everyone tries to tell you different they must be bleeding heart liberals. God bless him he was right.

Well first you need to define why a Women's only facility should exist. Once you define that then you can decide on what grounds to exclude people

Ostracized - verb - exclude (someone) from a society or group.
The story is literally about pre-op transgender women being ostracized by the spa. How could you come to the conclusion that nobody is being ostracized?

Uh. Weird line to draw, once again assuming that all transgender women would share the same believe. Or that if no one came forward it somehow doesn't matter? It's a relatively small community, and a lot of transgender woman would rather not put themselves into the spotlight on an issue like this because they don't want to become a focal point and target. Not that it really matters because you're simply wrong. There are transgender women upset about it. Lots of them.

See how Margaret feels about it in that story.
Or how Jia Qing Wilson-Yang does in this one:

I haven't checked your post history OMG!WTF!, but I'm wondering if you've been in a coma for the past decade. I don't know how else you could draw the conclusion that transgender women wouldn't care about being banned from their specific identified gender facilities. It's been a huge thing about the LGBT community fighting for the rights of transgenders to have the opportunity to be included in situations like this. Bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, I don't know why you would think they would draw the line at a spa...

Like excluding them from gender-specific spas that are for their identified gender?
I do get that it's not black and white, but I just don't see how you could come to the conclusion that transgender women wouldn't want to be allowed to go to a gender-specific spa. It's asinine belief. It would be like saying that black people didn't want to sit at the front of the bus in early 1956.

Yep, and there's people from different cultures and different upbringings, who feel that a black man is less of a man. There's people who feel homosexuals are damned for all time. There's people who think all Jews should be stoned to death.
I don't know if we should be basing our laws on archaic and discriminatory feelings by bigots, but that's just me.

Aren't you trying to thread the needle here. It's okay for women to to feel that a Penis attached to a man makes them uncomfortable and that should be accommodated but if that Penis is attached to a transgendered person then it is not okay to be uncomfortable.

Nope. I'm saying that a person who identifies as a woman should be able to use a facility that is specified for her gender. Nothing more, nothing less. I have not made a comment on anything else.
If they want to and can legally have a women only spa, they should accommodate all women. It's a pretty simple and clear concept to me.
I don't see much difference between segregated pools back in the days. White folks back than came up with all reasons for why they were necessary and right as well.

Why is a Women's only facility acceptable to you and a whites only facility isn't?
