I'm not sure that would qualify as a "very major project".

I hope it's an announcement that Calatrava is designing all the new Ctrain stations on the green line!

It's the New Calgary Cancer Centre with official announcement today. Can't share any of the renderings or videos yet but from what I have seen in the office so far, the building looks really awesome.

This multi-disciplinary project will be the largest cancer treatment facility in Canada and will have a huge impact on the lives of cancer patients and their families in Alberta.

It may not be the sexiest project, but it's probably a building that will make a bigger difference on the quality (and longevity) of life for many Albertans, than almost anything else you could build.
Being able to fund things like this is partly why governments have to be prudent with giving money to NHL teams.

Is this still going to be in Seton or did they bow to pressure and are trying to stick it in a Foothills ?

Foothills is the better spot for it.

NE Corner of the medical complex from what I can tell from the rendering, where the surface lot currently is right on the SW corner of 29 Street and 16 Ave. Makes sense, that is the only 'vacant' piece of land there is.

I don't hate it, it has some nice design elements, but it definitely isn't as warm as other modern healthcare facilities across the country. This looks like a cold, monolithic structure - especially on the 16th Avenue side.

And the only outdoor 'affordable' parking. I walk to work here so it doesn't affect me but it will make a lot of AHS and University employees unhappy to lose this lot.
