6'6" 240 pounder that can touch 100mph with his fastball?
Quote:
Pearson has shown promise as a right-hander pitcher in the big leagues after putting up incredible numbers in the junior-college ranks and displaying some major-league heat with his pitches. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 240 pounds, the 20-year-old struck out 118 batters and posted a 1.56 ERA in 81 innings pitched over 13 starts. He also hit over 100 mph repeatedly with his fastball and threw his slider in the upper-80s during a bullpen session with the Tigers in May. Though he is committed to Louisiana State University and there is debate about whether he would fit better as a starter or reliever, Pearson has the tools to be a top arm for Toronto.

Warmoth seems like a good 2B/SS option down the road. Might be a quality bat there as well. Should reach the majors relatively quickly as well. Pearson is interesting in that he is basically Syndergaard 2.0. Live arm with little to go by in terms of secondary pitches.

Yeah that's the word on the street.
Relatively safe picks... at 21 I'd be skeptical about Pearson developing two MLB quality pitches but with a 100MPH arm I think he can get a second pitch and stand a great chance to be a solid arm out of the Pen at least.
Warmoth almost sounds to safe... average to above tools but nothing standout. Still he's polished and should move through the system quickly.
Should have a nice batch of talent all ready to hit MLB together in a few years since these guys ETA will probably closely sync with guys like Bichette, Zuech, and Vlad Jr.

Known since starring in the 2011 Little League World Series, Danner is one of the better legitimate two-way players in this Draft class. The scouting industry is still split down the middle on whether he'd be better suited on the mound or behind the plate at the next level. Danner has spent more time, especially in showcases, showing what he can do as a pitcher. He has a live fastball that can touch 94-95 mph and complements it with a solid curveball and a changeup that flashes above-average. He can fill the strike zone with all three, coming from a high slot. The UCLA commit also has the chance to a special catcher. He has good hands and a plus arm defensively and while he's a below-average runner, his athleticism helps him move well behind the dish. He swings the bat well from a crouch set up, with quiet pop that could end up being average power in the future. The one thing scouts agree on is that Danner's grades will improve once he starts to focus on one craft. But even as the spring unfolded, there was division among scouts whether he should stay on the mound or behind the plate at the next level.

Just go back from the Seattle series. Absolutely phenominal easily one of the best sport outings I have ever attended.Saturdays crowd was 95% Jays fans and loud as hell. Sundays game we walked up to the ticket office and upgraded out seats and ended up sitting Row 3 right by 3rd base a few seats down from the Jays dugout.
Jays were awesome with the fans Donaldson, Stroman, Tulo, Carrera and a few others signing everything for people, managed to get Stroman to sign my hat. They also sell game balls at the top of the 5th ended up buying a Cano pop out off Biagini and the Pillar double ball from Sunday's game. Defiantly making that an annual trip.

Pretty big game today.
Can the Jays finally get back to .500?
Also an opportunity to pass the O's who are just a half game ahead of us and get out of the AL East basement for the 1st time since week 1 as well.
Would also pull to within a half game of the Rays which would also set up the Jays with an opportunity to pass them in the standings with a win tomorrow and pull into 3rd in the division.
Need a strong outing from Estrada tonight, he's been struggling lately.

Seattle media starting to get a little perturbed at it.
http://sports.mynorthwest.com/295820...-safeco-field/
Some is definitely jealousy, but can't say I don't disagree with some of the points. I've been going for going on ten years now, and it's getting a little out of control. Most people are great, but seems to be that more and more people turning up making this a big drunk at what is generally a family event. The Saturday night game was pretty bad. Kind of like what happened at McMahon Stadium when the Riders started hosting that party at Foothills Stadium.
Now I'm no angel, and spent the weekend boozing so i'm kind of the pot calling the Kettle black, but I'm pretty careful not to poke the bear in their own den and keep the big time partying until I hit Capitol Hill after the game. We are essentially guests in someone else's stadium. There's no need to be yelling in people's face that "This is our stadium this weekend", and yelling Trump insults at people who live in an area that is 99.99% against the Republican Party.
Not sure why people feel the need to do that, than I remembered that most other parts of the year these people are Canucks fans.

A power hitting Catcher Riley Adams and another quality short stop in rounds 3/4. All 5 guys were rated in the top 100

Quality SS is Kevin Smith. Bit of a faller... scouting report says that he can stick at short and has big power in his bat but that it comes with a lot of miss (he'll K a lot).
Adams also has a lot of power he's a big big boy so some aren't sure he'll be able to withstand the rigors of catching. By all reports he has a very good arm and is athletic so if he can't stick at C I wouldn't be surprised if he moved to a corner OF spot. I imagine they'll give him every opportunity to stick at C.
I figured they'd take a college catcher sometime today, Smith is a bit of a surprise... didn't think they'd take two NCAA ShortStops. Shaping up to be a college heavy draft by the Jays. I'd expect to see the remaining picks be mostly arms.
Edit: Humph... looks like they want to prove me wrong on the arms. Round 5: Cullen Large (Great name!), 2B, College of William and Mary.

Jays take another monster RHP in the 7th round.
6'8" 230lbs
Not a flame thrower though. Low to mid 90's with movement apparently.

Jays draft Kacy Clemens (son of you know who).
Strange Pick... he's a senior (and a 1B) and I don't see why they'd be taking a senior (or 1B) this early.

Punting the picks to go for cheaper signs to apply the cap to the other guys they drafted. They usually do that from rounds 5-10.
