Boy that cabinet meeting was unreal to watch. No doubt in my mind that North Korea's meetings are pretty much exactly the same. How far America has fallen.

Firing him before the investigation has barely gotten started is awful optics.

As well, Trump can't fire him himself. He can instruct the AG to fire him, and since the AG has recused himself from the investigation, it would fall to Rosenstein. Rosenstein seemingly cares if not about doing the right thing then at least of the appearance of doing the right thing, as he strongly objected when he was scapegoated for the firing of Comey. I think it's unlikely Rosenstein fires him, at which point it's up to Trump to fire Rosenstein and appoint a deputy AG to fire Mueller. This is pretty-much exactly the Watergate Saturday Night Massacre scenario.
Except this time the GOP has sold their soul to Russian interests. I don't think there are enough Republicans left that have a spine or are not complicit to make a difference.

Firing Mueller would be the surest sign yet Trump is either trying to get himself impeached, or that he indeed does have dementia.

Trump cannot handle the pressures of the job as a person who has surrounded himself with yes-men all his career.

He's thin skinned the negative pressure from the plummeting poll numbers + Euro protests are doing a number on his fragile ego. Probably why the public cabinet ass-kissing session happened today. I'm hoping he gets himself impeached in the most spectacular way possible.

So if he knows he is guilty and he believes Flynn will squeal isn't firing Mueller the correct call? He delays real evidence from being uncovered and forces Republicans House members to have a tough decision on being primaried or beaten by democrats. If he isn't guilty than letting it play out is the best strategy but if he is continuing to not observe the traditions of democracy and only the letter of the law might be his best chance at continuing to be president.

Over 47% of Americans now want Trump's impeachment. For comparison the amount of people that support his impeachment now exceeds his support (34%) and 39.5% of the popular vote formed the current majority government in Canada.

Quote:
Nearly half of registered voters support President Trump being impeached, a new poll finds.

Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling's new poll released Monday shows that 47 percent of voters support Trump being impeached, while 43 percent oppose it.

Trump’s approval rating sits at 41 percent in the new poll, with 52 percent of voters disapproving of job performance. Thirty-six percent of voters think that Trump has delivered on his promises while 56 percent say he has not.

Trump also scored low marks in the poll for his ongoing feud with fired FBI Director James Comey. Fifty-one percent said Comey was the more trustworthy of the two men, while just 39 percent said Trump was. And just 13 percent said the FBI's chief should do whatever Trump tells them to do, while 77 percent disagreed.

As FlameOn pointed out, Mueller as a special counsel has one of the most lopsided approval/disapproval rates when it comes to questions relating to Trump. Firing Mueller is one of the biggest things that could push Trump into the Nixon zone approval wise. GOP can't possibly hold on for 17 or so more months, especially since Trump is assured of becoming more unhinged and deranged in that time.

But if the alternative is Flynn testifying before a grand jury that Trump, Trump jr, and Kushner instructed him to make deals with the Russians during the campaign then isn't firing Meuller and forcing congress to act the better of the two alternatives.

While both those theories are the most likely, I can't help but wonder if quietly there's some unearthing going on that is scaring Trump. He suddenly reverses course on Comey. Why fire Mueller now? What changed publibly?

I think CNN is actively trying to get Trump to fire Mueller.

Four members of the legal team known to have been hired so far by special counsel Robert Mueller to handle the Russia investigation have given political donations almost exclusively to Democrats, according to a CNN analysis of Federal Election Commission records.

^ Damn....wish I'd thought of those things to say. Pretty brilliant, and yet juvenile at the same time. Hard to do both.

Schumer or Schiff have to come out and call Trump a loser. If they can get the "Trump is a loser" starts to catch on it will drive BLOTUS over the edge and he'll do something insane to strike back. He might even decide he's had enough and finally walk away.

To me it's not the Russia thing he's worried about, I think he's worried about the investigation ultimately leading to other things he's done in the past. I think he's probably insulated himself well enough to have probable deniability with that, but some of the other questionable aspects of his past could come up as this thing broadens out as more associates are investigated. I think this possible firing is ultimately just a bluff as it's too insane to believe he'd pull a move that looks like an admittance of guilt, but then again he is Trump so....
