You can usually tell the fans who are big into analytics.
Stone disappears from any arm chair roster and is quite often replaced with Franson.

Technically I replaced Stone with Del Zotto, and Engelland with Franson. If Stone is willing to take a 3rd pair paycheck to play here I don't really mind a Kulak-Stone 3rd pair at all. In fact it'd be great.

I'm surprised how many people are breaking up the 3M line in their prospective depth charts. That line is very good offensively and elite defensively. No sense in breaking up what was considered by most as the #1 line for most of the season.

Really? I thought it was the following:
- Players from bad teams results are overly flattering due to getting more ice time or "someone has to get the points on a bad team". Also, many of them are "loser" who have been exposed to "loser" culture.
- Players from good teams as you say, have their results over inflated because they are playing on good teams.
Leaving us with no players from any other organization would be any good here. Also usually coupled with we don't have enough good players on our own roster, and the GM should go out and get some players (but then the above circular dilemma starts again).

From my own personal Flames Cap doc, here is what I see as potential cap hits/line. I am sure there are plenty of errors, but its fun just to mess around with:
ETA:
- I have 1 too many forward spots.
- I need to update the 'Assumed starting Lineup
- Green background is 'assumed cost'. Yellow is 'hopefully....'

I really don't want Alzner. Every Cap fan I have heard from says he has lost a huge step.

Replace Versteeg with Jankowski and this is mine. Also wouldn't mind Kevin Hayes in place of Radulov.

I hope you mean because you're being more realistic in acquiring Kevin Hayes and not that you'd actually prefer Hayes to Radulov?

Odd, i could swear i clicked on the trade speculation and rumors thred. Nope my mistake must be the opening roster thread.
Its been pretty quiet on the trade line. When do you think they start pouring in? I would expect teams have been asked to keep it quiet till post stanley cup.

Obviously, Radulov ain't coming here. Hayes could be available for a reasonable price IMO.

The whole 'no trade while the final is on' mandate is really annoying me. To my mind, it doesn't affect the fans of 29 teams and is denying us something that keeps us interested.

I can agree with most of that, but there's no way the flames pay Bennett 4 million for 2 years. He should get there eventually, but 30 - 40 points a year isn't worth 4 million. I think his bridge deal will be between 2 and 3 million for 2 years.

Lines who perform that well rarely stay together season after season. They usually end up splitting and coming back together for parts of a season. Not saying that the 3M line isn't going to be good again or not going to play together but it's not a lock. Definitely worth seeing what Tkachuk can do for other lines and Backlund/Frolik for another young rookie (Jankowski).

Every good line eventually breaks up. Getzlaf-Perry, Thorton-Marleau, Crosby-Kunitz, Ovy-Backstrom, etc.
The only exception I can think of is the Sedins. Im certain Monahan and Gaudreau will eventually split. I betcha Gaudreau plays with Bennett. Monahan likely plays with Tkachuk at some points.
