What's something that you have done in your life...

...that you think everyone should add to their bucket lists?
I'm going to say Amsterdam. It's really sweet. Get there before it sinks.

Travel Europe. Travel Asia. Travel South America if you're resourceful and smart enough to stay out of trouble. For those of you who are still young enough to know a life without a wife and kids and mortgage payments, for God's sakes travel while you still can. I cannot stress this enough.

I'll agree with the travel. I'm going to the Galapagos Islands this summer, which has been on my bucket list.
In addition to travelling, back when I was young and had no commitments, I moved to Hungary for a year. Definitely a different experience to live somewhere versus travelling there for a vacation.

The wife and i left good paying jobs and moved to the mountains of bc. Things worked out considering where we live. We both ended up with jobs that can pay the bills . there might only be a dozen business's that offer employment. Stressful sometimes . but thats life.

Yeah, I am getting to that point too. Change is good sometimes and work/life balance is so important. It's about the journey, but too often we set some kind of artificial goal and miss everything else while we race to get to that end goal.

Well not sure how to articulate it. It is very important but its also accompanied by many different problems. We now live what we call our semi retirement home. We dont make lots of money but we dont need that much to survive. We get to live in our paradise with our youth and able bodies. We have been here for 8 years now and havent looked back . There are lots of on site problem solving being alittle isolated . Which i think is a great thing. no one to call no one to immediately help you. Just have to figure it out. Then theres wildlife , forest fires , power outages. Some ppl Might think its the worst thing in the world. Us? We love having a power outage lets us change our ways and have a random date night!! anyways. We have gravity water , propane stove, and wood heat , plus a bbq with a 100 pounder. No cell service at work or at home.

This!

However a mortgage should not stop you, neither should children.

I have done this during my time in Kenya (and I don't mean to undercut the OP) but please be wise about this particular bit. There's "Safari for M'zungu" and "real Safari."

Go with someone who knows someone, if you can (or someone who owns land in the area - you'd be surprised how many doctors you already know who have African property because of their involvment in NGO help organizations!).

True, my buddy in SA lived on a reserve. We could just walk out his front door.

Same holds true for Sharks, my other buddy knew the captain.

Great day

Riding a motorcycle on the highway with no one around. The most free feeling because your entire body is in control instead of a steering wheel
