It feels like that's an inevitable outcome of everything that's happened: Trump has to go under oath at some point, whether at a committee hearing or (more likely) at a deposition before Mueller.
They should just throw Trump in jail now, figure out the details as they go so the country can move on from this disaster.
And ya. I know. But it sure would be nice in this case.
I don't think people realize just how bad that would be for the U.S. I am in no way a Trump supporter but the fact is if he is removed from office the people who voted him in are going to have their beliefs that the government controls everything and they really have no say strengthened. You will have mass riots, mass shootings, and pretty much civil war. Nothing Trump will do in his 4 years as President will be nearly as destructive to the U.S. itself imo than if they remove him from office somehow. The smart move is to surround him with people who will help limit the stupid choices he might make regarding world issues and get him out when his term is up.

For Trump, lying in such a forum would be like a mountain climber climbing Everest or a physicist visiting the space station. He has done everything else a liar can achieve at this point. It's the last thing he can do to show that he can do and say anything he wants.

I think if his own party turns on him it will be okay.
But if the democrats win the house in 2018 and move to impeach it will get scary. It has to be republican house members who are afraid of being primaried by moderate republicans in safe seats that lead the charge into impeachment.

I really don't see him having any problem with lying under oath. Almost everything he says is a lie, it's pathological. He cannot help himself.

I agree. In fact, I think the occasion would only to cause him to lie more bigly. He doesn't live in the real world and its truths have no value to him.

except the people getting put in the leadership positions are the worst possible people, doing the most harm.
one example Scott Pruitt
getting rid of trump will provide stability. the message will be the same from all areas of government, and not undermined by the president and his actions.
not saying that good work will be done, but there will be more stability for better or ill.
and I doubt getting rid of trump will cause civil war. there will always be loonies on both sides but not enough who will take action.
the same issues in the country will also remain, but you won't have a guy like trump and bannon fanning the flames.

I really hope all these Trump people coming out today to speak out are all remembered when the truth comes out and they are shamed by their behavior and blind allegiance to this baboon.
Certainly hope the Republicans pay a hefty price in the next few elections.
These people are shameless.

So Trump says he would have no problem testifying under oath in regards to Comey's testimony. I'm guessing if they actually wanted to do that he'd find an excuse not to.
I would like to point out that sociopaths have have little problem lying. Being under oath is irrelevant to Trump. He is a pathological liar, has displayed this capacity his whole life, and nothing would change just because he placed his hand on a bible.

Ya just echo what the above poster said. A sociopath can lie better than most of us can tell the truth. They truly don't think they are ever wrong. A normal person has a very hard time telling a lie without giving tell tale signs. A sociopath can look you in the eye and lie and it would be very hard to tell unless you had concrete evidence.
