Yes there is a chance. Suzuki wasn't in McKenzie's top 15 list that was published right after the lottery.
McKenzie's list is usually the best predictor of the first round.

For my own reasons I'm happy with either Suzuki or Yamamoto. Or both. We can also get that Aito Iguchi in a few years.

Owen Tippett being available at 16 would be something else. Highly unlikely however.

One dimensional scoring wingers often go a little later than some fans and even some scouts think.
Gauthier ranked as high as top 10-12 last year, went in the 20's. Mantha. Sprong was rated to go in the 1st, fell to the 2nd. Shinkaruk ranked top 10-12 by some went in the 20's.
Some fans think goal scoring wingers are among the most valuable commodities hockey but most teams choose to build up the middle and prioritize centres and dmen over them. I mean the elite ones like Laine and Ovi will obviously go very high but the averages sized ones or ones with question marks on their complete game often fall.

Pettersson or Suzuki would please me.

I don't disagree.
I was simply stating that Tippett would be a phenomenal selection for our organization at 16 in my opinion for a variety of different reasons. I don't anticipate he drops that far regardless of the factors you mentioned but as you mentioned it has happened before.

I liked Tippett alot more when he was a big winger (6'2"). He only measured a shade over 6 feet at the combine.

As a half-Japanese person, I concur.
Then we can all compared them to Paul Kariya (without reason) for years to come.
Ideally, it would be nice if the Flames could draft a consistent 2nd line winger. One that could still be on an entry level contract while the team is contending for a cup.
It's easy to get prospects with 3rd line upside. 2nd line prospects are quite a bit more valuable and hard to find. Especially ones that develop quickly.

I agree. I really like Owen Tippett. Elite hands, skating and shot. Kessel lite imo, and he's a RHS.

Treliving on 960 says there may be opportunities at 16 to take a swing at some one with a real high ceiling.
Sounded like they may be "swinging" for the fences with the pick.
Kostin? Vesalainen?

I'm not sure I like that strategy. In a few years the team's core will be in its prime and earning big bucks. The team will need a steady influx of decent players to come in at entry-level salaries and play a role. The Flames should be drafting low-risk guys with a high probability of cracking the NHL as bottom six / bottom pairing role, rather than swinging for the fences with guys who have a high ceiling but are less likely to make the NHL.

I don't know, IMO, the Flames are well stocked with safe, role players. What they don't have a lot of in the pipe is potentially high end talent.
(I am saying this from the standpoint that Tkachuk and Bennett are already on the team and not 'in the pipe')

My dreams would come true. These are the two guys I hope the Flames take swings at.

100% agree and it seems we've always had this problem. If there was one draft, this should be the draft we should totally go for a risky pick.

Seems like Tippett is falling to the 10-15 range in some of the most recent rankings to come out. Which I could easily see happening - I think Hunter is a good comparable in terms of a goal scoring winger that drops.
If he's there at 16 (long shot but not impossible) do the Flames take him?

Would the Flames pick a 6'2" RH RW sniper? He's essentially ticks the boxes of the type of player organization currently lacks so I don't see how they wouldn't take him if he's available at 16 unless they are in love with another player at that area which given how much they loved Piorier I'm not sure is a good idea to go off the board again. I certainly wouldn't want them to pass him up for for a guy like Robert Thomas that's a ppg player that scored only 16 goals last year as those types of junior stats typically translate to a bottom six NHL forward at best and the Flames have plenty of those types of guys in the organization.

He actually measured 6'05" at the combine.
Did weigh in at 203lbs though.

So he probably grows out close to 6'2" 220 when he's filled out which is still nice size to go along with skill. Just because a player slides that doesn't mean he's not going to pan out as teams like the Ducks with Fowler or Capitals with Forsberg (their good fortune turned into Nashville's) can be the benefactor of teams over analyzing players.
