This hearing - including both Comey's responses and the questions/remarks of the members of the committee - is the best the US political system has looked in quite some time.

.@SpeakerRyan says that Trump "wasn’t steeped into the ongoing protocols" of whats appropriate in terms of discussions w/ Comey.

That being said Comey's word vs. Trump's word. Still not much of a contest. I think you can likely sum up Comey as an honest but politically obtuse operator.

This is interesting, and what you said is interesting, its Comey's word against Trumps word, and that's what's going to make any kind of investigation difficult, unless I'm missing something and this conversation is on tape.
I haven't been following US politics very hard lately its just too exhausting.
However I would assume the burden of proof for any obstruction of justice investigation goes far beyond he said hair said.

And I assume that if Comey has said this in public on camera, the things he's told Mueller in private must be hydrogen bombs.

Well... Trump insinuated that there were tapes on Twitter (but like most of what Trump says, on Twitter or in any other medium, I assume that's untrue). One would assume that's why Trump kept asking people to leave the room to speak with Comey (including asking Sessions & Kushner specifically to leave after the crowd had left).

In the sense of getting a criminal conviction for obstruction? I dunno, probably/maybe? One would also assume that Trump didn't pressure/fire Comey on complete whims... he must have discussed it with other people and those other people can potentially affirm parts of Comey's testimony. There's also no such extra burden on using it as grounds for impeachment.

I think it was awesome that Comey begged for the tapes (if they exist) to be released. A big kick in the nuts to Trump and his threat.

Could we dispense with the ogling of the journalists? It's creepy and it's taking up page space.

Well at least the GOP is conceding that Trump has been lying about the Comey stuff the entire time. Moving on to the "he was just naive" excuse signals this. It's a remarkably flimsy excuse. You'd think they'd come up with something better than that and "well you leaked information Comey you evil leaker!"
And I have to agree if this is what Comey is revealing in a public hearing I can only imagine what he's been telling investigators.

Why are Republicans still praddling on and on about the Clinton emails? Stupid.
Just a reminder, Cornyn and Cotton both had dinner with Trump immediately before this session.
