Often I find myself sitting alone in the left turn lane with no traffic at all waiting like an idiot for the green arrow, which takes at least five minutes to cycle through.
2. On northbound 4 Street why can't they sync the lights at 10, 11 and 12 Avenues so you can make it through into the core without getting stuck on red at 10 Avenue?
|
1- Put in a 311 request, they have options for light timing. Chances are roads will come back with some BS line, but it is worth a try.
2-The lights are synced for east/west so good luck. But you could try 311 again.

Sadly - I know a guy in Roads and I get the impression 311 requests are pretty low on the "care" totem pole unless they're getting innundated with the same issue.
Best way is to go via your Councillor's office.

The dandelions are terrible this year as well. Fish Creek park in Mckenzie is a jungle of weeds. Are they spraying this year?

Is the city responsible for dandelions in a provincial park?

Good question. This is on the pathway leading into the park though

I don't think they've sprayed for dandelions in years.
It looks like they ran a pilot project last year to test various non-toxic control methods: http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Parks/Pag...andelions.aspx
A report was supposed to be delivered to Council in October, but I can't find any information about the report or what (if anything) Council decided on the matter.

Unless your councillor is Brian Pincott. Our inquiries regarding cross-walks in our neighbourhood never got a response (nor did our inquiry about the bullet in our bedroom).
Some people go into politics to serve the interests of their constituents. Some people go into politics as a platform to carry out their personal agenda.

I don't think they spray anymore. They'll claim they are there for the bees and they are the best government for the bees.

Councillor is also Brian Pincott, have emailed his office a few times and always got a response within 2 weeks. A couple of responses were within 48 hours.

It's no better with DCU. She refused to meet with me when I was on the board for our local waterpark because she was too busy. She later blocked me on twitter for taking a picture of her completely illegal election signs (they were at the school on the day of election, which is ridiculously egregious because they know they're illegal, but the damage is done and virtually nothing can be done about it!)
Anyway. They're not actually serving these communities other than in name only, unfortunately.

My father-in-law used to be high up in the city administration, and a councillor he had tremendous respect for was Dale Hodges. He said Hodges worked 10-12 hours a day fielding any and all requests from his constituents and helping them get whatever they needed done with the City. Easy to see how a guy like that served 10 terms and never made any enemies (besides the Hell's Angels).

I think they just need to cut the grass more often and not let the grass and weeds grow a foot tall.

Maybe, you can argue with the style of Rick Bell, but the ridiculousness of needing to spend $170,000 to have someone basically come in and run council meetings is a poor reflection on the mayor.
I very much doubt that he'll implement the idea because it will probably be the end of him.
