South side is fine all the way up. As for riding the shoulder when it opens to traffic,,,not a good idea, it is ripple chip corrugated ribbon lined the entire way. Plus inside shoulder is tight and gravel filled beyond the driving out of lane deterants. Will be good riding for the next couple of weeks though,,in the middle of the road.
We got to the summit. That is about 5km before the summit. There is a little path to the side where everyone is walking around There's a bit of snow at the top as well. Got some footage, will try to put a short video together.
Rode the ridgeback triplets and tom snow today. Great morning to be out early.
The ridgeback triplets ((we skipped the 4 b@st@rd child) were 99.8% bone dry. Started the ride out by clipping a rock and almost riding directly into a tree, was able to save myself at the last second. And to be honest I had forgotten how RB is a trail of extremes. Super sweet single track, with some really rooty sections that beat you up.
From RB - Tom Snow initially seduces you with some super sweet double track and eventually you get to a section where you need to walk around some muddy sections.
The ride was a nice change from WBC.
I have been having some issues with my rear shock for the past month or so, and last week the boys at Cyclepath south were able to get me a sweet deal on a can creek dual can shock. I am hoping this shock comes in this week as my current shock is not performing all that well.

We are handing down my son's bike to our daughter, but the brake levers are a little too far out from the handle bars for her to reach easily enough. Can these be adjusted for smaller hands, or do I need to find a new set?
Probably not a big deal for the hardcore riders here, but after commuting on a terrible sport check special for the last 3 years I finally bought a decent ride. Nothing too fancy, but it's laughable how much of a difference there is between this bike and my old bike
2017 specialized Sirius sport.

There's usually a screw on the back side of the handbrake. If you screw it in it will push the handle closer to the bars. Keep in mind when you do this, its usually at the expense of freedom between off and full engagement.

Thanks. For some reason the levers were pretty poor quality on this bike and the screws were badly skewed, so even though I adjusted them, they didn't hold the levers in. Guess I will have to pick up a new pair.
that wind this morning - way too much man......I assume it will flip around sometime around noon today so I can have the pleasure of riding into it again......

I'm thinking the same thing. That feeling you get when you wake up and hear the wind blowing the trees, you just know it's going to be a headwind. Frak. Just maybe we get lucky and it stays out of the north/northwest.
I don't know why, but I had it in my head that hwy 66 past Elbow falls was also closed until mid June. It opened May 15. I rode it anyway this weekend, my first 100km ride in two years. Found out a few things:
1. I've ridden 2400 km this year, but I really need to do more longer rides. I was gassed pretty quickly. My commutes are 40-50 minutes tops.
2. I really should remember to bring food. Left mine in the truck. A nice rider at the Little Elbow campground was kind enough to give me an energy gel.
3. Some roadies are grumpy #######s. When you pass me and I say hello, a response would be cool.
4. My climbing skills blow.
5. Descending at 82km/h is a fun and sketchy proposition.
Great day, too much sun probably. I also witnessed a duck trying to lead her chicks across the road get spooked and fly right into a Rav 4. That was disturbing. Poor ducklings turned and ran back into the brush.
Spent yesterday volunteering for the Deadgoat Giver6er at the Nordic Centre. Great weather, terrific course. Nice to see a bunch of old friends again. Also got to meet bossy22! Some hardcore individual efforts. My friend Pat did 7 laps (84km) on a singlespeed. My knees hurt just thinking about that.
