Based on reputation and last season's performance, I'm sure Stone's price won't go any higher than it is, and Alzner's will plummet into the 5-6 million dollar range.

Could be, depends so much on term. As a UFA, I am not sure Stone will take a pay cut though. Perhaps he will be willing to take a shorter term deal. From what I heard from Alzner on 960, I think he wants a longer term.

True, it's free agency so there could be ridiculous overpayments.

The more I think about it, the more I think Alzner will have a reasonable contract. I could see them both signing close to the same contract with Alzner maybe .5-1 mill more. If they both have ties to Calgary, maybe they could work on an even more friendly contract. Either way, I see the Flames getting at least one (and I think it'd be cool to have both).

One huge difference is simply that Stone has a right shot while Alzner is a lefty. Seems like having lefty/righty D pairings is a big deal to GG, and if that's true then I don't see a spot for Alzner on this team.

Maybe its not a big deal though. I guess we will find out.

I am certainly not opposed to bringing in Alzner for the right money. He seems to be getting the same buzz about a new contract that Russell got last year. People are speculating $5-$6M per on a long term deal. If that is what he gets he can get that elsewhere.

If he were willing to sign for about 4x4 I would be fine with the Flames signing him. Having said that I think Stone is just as good and a right shot. As discussed earlier in the thread having a Stone-Alzner 4-5 would be great but both guys would need to give the Flames a bit of a discount. Both guys seemingly would be very happy in this market but I doubt both would leave the money and opportunity on the table to sign with the Flames to be our 4-5

Maybe we should get the CP filter to change it to gender neutral siblings

Oh yeah I forgot , if you feel the need to ask if somethings O.K., it isn't. So that answers that.

I'd like to know who is in charge of deciding who can be made fun of and who can't. There is 1000 pages of white trash jokes in the E=ng thread. And alot of them come from the champions of deciding what's wrong and what's right around here. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem whatsoever with people making fun of Edmontonians but what the hell?

Ya know what I think? A person should think that it is OK to make fun of people (i'm in that group) or it isn't. (And I think I actually know a guy in that group. When he goes PC on me I respect it) But I'm not gonna take someone seriously who wants to decide for me who can and who can't be made fun of or even insulted if I see them making the same kind of jokes about groups that they have decided are fair game.

I would be careful, wars have started for less than deleting E=NG

People from Yokohama-shi (Kanagawa-ken) consider Vancouver to be their sister city...

Is there really going to be that big of a market for Alzner though? I think he will be sought after but I don't know if he'll get a huge payday. If the Flames find a way to get rid of Brouwer, Bouma and Stajan then I'd try to sign both guys. It's not ideal to have a bottom pairing guy make 4 mill but I think having both Stone and Alzner on the back end would really help the team and allow the #6 spot to go to a rookie.

Oh, good. So basically, any time some censorious wowser claims to be offended on behalf of a third party whose opinions in the matter have not been consulted, you will obligingly perform whatever censorship the wowser demands.

If this is a statement of board policy, you have pre-emptively surrendered to whoever happens to be the most illiberal zealot in the room, and you might as well shut the board down altogether.

NO use of language is safe enough or inoffensive enough for those who wish to silence the people they happen to dislike. I've seen more than enough of it in my own profession, thank you; let's not be having it here.

Eklund claiming the Knights and Leafs are both very high on Alzner. Other teams needing help on the blueline will also have interest.

Brenden Smith is another pending UFA that interest me in the 4 spot. He just doesn't have the same connection to the market that Alzner and Stone have therefore has no incentive to come to Calgary other than playing for a competitive team (70% of the league can offer that) or the Flames offer the most money which is a definite overpayment.

Ummm no I didn't say anything like that.
I said if people find something offensive to let us know so we can consider it. Did I say that we would automatically "censor" anything?
I did not.

Are people really upset that they can't use a childish name like "sisters" anymore?

What if Vancouver ever gets good again and we play them in the playoffs. Can we call them Sister's then?

NM the odds of that are basically zero anyways

Such bold prediction by Eklund. Teams looking for blueline help looking at a UFA dman

I'd say it is a pretty bold prediction to say that Alzner would actually help someone's defensive group.

Here's the video.

"Sounds like he'll definitely get traded"

McKenzie says Duchene is his bet for the player most likely to be traded this summer. Also mentions Hamonic and Barrie.

Not surprised the Oilers would have no issues moving Eberle. I figured there would be more than a few teams enticed by the opportunity that he may flourish offensively on a different team. Personally I feel in the right place he could be more of the same in a 50 point one dimensional player but in the wrong place it could be a disaster.
