Joking aside they essentially announced; " After careful debate we have decided that we will no longer allow citizens with criminal records to volunteer with the school".
Nothing says poor management like letting a person with a criminal record actually participate and deciding after the fact it may have not been a great idea.

Well the whole idea of Christianity is "we are all sinners" and they have always been more likely to give people second chances, as opposed to public schools. Although if I ran the school, I would have never allowed Homolka on property, as she participated in one of the most horrific crimes in Canadian history.

She's done little to nothing as far as atonement goes.
While she was in prison, she pretty much acted like a celebrity.
If she wants forgiveness there's some actions that would have to come from her side. There's a saying that sometimes we should just give forgiveness because its good for both souls so to speak.
But I'm in the camp that you have to show some contrition to be forgiven.

Particularly if he thinks she "paid her debt to society" - the whole issue with her is she got out of doing that.
Regarding criminal record checks - I've needed one for pretty much everything I've done as a volunteer with kids except volunteering in their school. All they ask me to do is look at a PowerPoint presentation (without any way of confirming I did it) and sign a form.

Yes, I admit that out of curiosity, I refreshed my memory by reading about her participation in the crimes. I guess I had underestimated her role in said crimes. I always knew she was involved, as there was video evidence. However, I never knew to what extent.

IMO, Mulcair is an idiot. My opinion of him was solidified when he lashed out and started yelling at Trudeau for "viciously elbowing a female MP" even though tapes clearly show Trudeau merely brushed against the woman, after his NDP henchman were physically blocking an opposition MP from doing his duties, and Trudeau went to assist him.

Drug possession, DUIs, etc don't make a person unfit to supervise children on a field trip. So a blanket policy is as poor as no policy.

Somewhat agree. As long as you have paid your debt to society, and become an upstanding member of the community, why should it matter what you did a decade ago or longer? As long as it's not violent or sexual in nature, then I am willing to forgive if the person shows that he/she has changed.
