I just saw an AD today about how the Conservatives had promised to reduce the deficit, and it popping back from this rich guy thanking them, talking about buying a new vacation home, with another mother who struggles..
Its very well done, I think the conservatives will lose their majority at least.
Fired FBI director James Comey plans to testify publicly in the Senate as early as next week to confirm bombshell accusations that President Donald Trump pressured him to end his investigation into a top Trump aide's ties to Russia, a source close to the issue said Wednesday.
Final details are still being worked out and no official date for his testimony has been set. Comey is expected to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating possible connections between the Trump campaign and Russia during last year's presidential election.
Comey has spoken privately with Special Counsel Robert Mueller III to work out the parameters for his testimony to ensure there are no legal entanglements as a result of his public account, a source said. Comey will likely sit down with Mueller, a longtime colleague at the Justice Department, for a formal interview only after his public testimony.
The way the Paris Accord debate unfolds in the US is so pointless. Stop trying to engage people on climate science debates! (Not talking specifically to people here but just in general to the rhetoric I see online.) You're never going to convince them on science. Where you just might convince a few people is in economics; because renewable energy is going to be a massive sector over the next 50 years; you don't need to believe in climate science, to know that. All you need to do is look at the Paris Accord signatories. The US has already been losing out on this sector (in part because domestic demand has not increased as in other parts of the world, often as a direct result of government policy), and Europe and China are pulling clear ahead of the US in renewable tech production and installation. By pulling out of the Paris Accord, the US would be essentially resigning itself to never getting to the point of net exporter of renewable tech, and spending the foreseeable future continuing to be beholden to other nations on energy supply issues. I think that's really the terms that Americans should be using to convince other Americans, rather than climate science.

I'd love for Trump supporters to point out Iceland on a globe loool
Easy now, one step at a time.
They've just learned of this word "Iceland" and their heads are probably still swimming with this new information. Next we have to ease them into the fact that it is a sovereign country and not one of the states, then maybe we'll talk geography.
As per that lady's ominous tweet, Trumpsters deciding not to vacation there doesn't seem like such a bad thing. I'm sure the peoples of the Nordic countries would feel very left out.
I've been reading this thread with dread fascination. It really is the train-wreck that you can't look away from. Thanks to all who are posting updates about the news, it's greatly appreciated.
Good day and sincerest covfefes to you all.

Congressional investigators are examining whether Attorney General Jeff Sessions had an additional private meeting with Russia's ambassador during the presidential campaign, according to Republican and Democratic Hill sources and intelligence officials briefed on the investigation.
Investigators on the Hill are requesting additional information, including schedules from Sessions, a source with knowledge tells CNN. They are focusing on whether such a meeting took place April 27, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, where then-candidate Donald Trump was delivering his first major foreign policy address. Prior to the speech, then-Sen. Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak attended a small VIP reception with organizers, diplomats and others.
In addition to congressional investigators, the FBI is seeking to determine the extent of interactions the Trump campaign team may have had with Russia's ambassador during the event as part of its broader counterintelligence investigation of Russian interference in the election. The FBI is looking into whether there was an additional private meeting at the Mayflower the same day, sources said. Neither Hill nor FBI investigators have yet concluded whether a private meeting took place -- and acknowledge that it is possible any additional meeting was incidental.

I will be announcing my decision on Paris Accord, Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The White House Rose Garden. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
A ceremony in the Rose Garden to announce that the U.S., Syria and Nicaragua are the only countries on the planet not part of the Paris Accord. And in Nicaragua's case they're out because they don't think the Accord has gone far enough.
Elon Musk says he'll step down from President Donald Trump's advisory councils if he decides to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement.
The CEO of both Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX tweeted Wednesday that he's done everything possible to lobby the president to keep the U.S. in the treaty.
"Don't know which way Paris will go, but I've done all I can to advise directly to POTUS, through others in WH & via councils, that we remain," Musk said.
Asked via Twitter what he'll do if Trump decides to leave, Musk responded that he would "have no choice but to depart [the] councils in that case."

Musk is currently one of 18 business leaders who serve on Trump's business advisory council, formally known as the Strategic and Policy Forum. He is also part of the president's manufacturing jobs initiative, and has met with POTUS to discuss the need to boost infrastructure spending.
