I remember a Baseball reporter named Rod Beaton IIRC in the 90's (used to be a regular guest on Dan Russel's sportstalk). One time he made mention that Boston and Milwaukee were the two toughest places for an African American player to play and be successful. It was something to do around Mo Vaughn being in an altercation at a club, and Gary Sheffield going to San Diego and finding his game.
I like to think that things have improved a lot over the past 25 years. That said, even if 1 in 200 is a complete knucklehead...that's still a lot of people.
I haven't spent any amount of time there in 12-13 years, and i'd imagine a lot has changed since then, but when I was spending time there, Boston was such a weird dynamic. A tourist area that they did everything to hide the real Boston from, small pockets of uber rich people, and an overwhelming majority of very blue collar people with a very low levels of education or skills who has an extreme dislike for others that weren't part of their social group. Always seemed to be a powder keg to me. Amazing place to visit, but as soon as you left the tourist areas, and quickly became you were not welcome unless you were a longtime local. Maine also gave me a similar vibe.
Went to a couple D-Backs games while in Arizona this week, nice to see them sweep the Mets. Fun team to watch with a great chance to win the NL West if they can stay healthy.
I always liked Thames and rooted for him on the Jays and Ms, but can I ever see where those PED allocations are coming from now. Haven't really followed him in the Brewers this year, but his body got massive. He was always in shape, but his mass is so much bigger now.
Quite the fight in the Nats/Giants game. Bryce Harper is such a turd.
What did Bryce Harper do wrong here? I'm no Harper fan, but Strickland is the coward who threw a baseball 98 mph at Harper. It's nice he had to answer for his actions for once. Too bad Washington won't get the chance to throw at him as he rarely gets an at bat.

There's are no winners in that fight. Harper - great player but a real jerk. Not familiar with Strickland but his interview appears he's just another loudmouth athlete.
People are saying Harper was beaned for something that happened in the playoffs three years ago. I can't remember what that was about. Too long to hold a grudge, when your team won.
I am a Giants fan, but I can't condone that. For something that happened in 2014 and with how hard pitchers throw this is getting ridiculous. If you want some revenge, toss something mid 80's. It's not going to feel good and it's over and done with. To throw mid to high 90's at someone is going to end ugly one day. I hope that they fine Strickland and suspend him for 1 start at least.
If you want to know what the Giant's players thought about this as well, watch the video and look at how Posey doesn't even run out or try to stop Harper in any way
