2. They would prefer to keep Chaisson over Bouma, but will end up stuck with Bouma and won't want to buy anyone out this season.

If Stajan's a healthy scratch than he's on the opening night roster. Maybe you're thinking of the opening night line-up? The spirit of the thread is essentially "who's still signed as a Calgary Flame on opening day?".

Well without going all CorsiHockeyLeague it's an important semantic as the OP was asking who will still be a Flame on opening day and you said Stajan won't because he'll be in the press box.

Opening day roster is a very common and clear term in the sports world for which players are part of the team on day one. Who's dressed and playing on opening night is an entirely different question and about as relevant as "who will be playing in game 15 of the Flames 17/18 season".

In the spirit of his question you didn't include Stajan and then went on to say he will be here.

Is Bolland still buried next season? If so, I have a feeling they won't have two players down there making NHL salary and counting against the cap.

I also have a feeling Jankowski will actually replace Stajan at some point in the year, but that Stajan will start at centre first.
