Yeah exactly. I just don't want him back because he bores me in net haha. But have no issues bringing him back based on skill. Starting to think we will see the same tandem and cp is going to implode.

Johnny with two assists (on the game tying and game winning goal), US beats Russia 5-3.

Gaudreau with the primary assist on the tying and game winning goals. USA wins 5-3 with an EN goal.

Game winner was an insane tic tac toe play from Eichel to Gaudreau to Lee

This tournament is great for Johnny. He's gonna come into camp feeling confident, prepared and relaxed. That should make all the difference compared to last year.

I agree but we need to get him another skilled player to play with or he won't be the show he is at tournaments like this and the World Cup.

Latvia-Germany showdown for the last QF spot (to play Canada). That crowd will be jacked.

That's the hard part and given the GM's top priority is probably finding a starting goaltender one wonders if Johnny is going to have to put up with another season of revolving wingers or maybe team tries Tkachuk on that line.

If the Flames had a PP that worked JG would be ~PPG. Gaudreau only put up 3.3 P/60 at 5v4 this year, where his comparably talented players are all putting up 6+ P/60. That's good for an extra 10 points on the year, or 71 points in 72 games.

The power play is awful, his wingers were awful, and GG's system is almost entirely defense focused and he was still in the top 30 for points/60 leaguewide.

Trade the bum

Here are the Powerplay stats for the year, they were 10th in the NHL.

Latvia comes back but loses 4-3 in a shootout.

Canada wins 5-2.

In the knock out, Canada plays Germany.

USA plays Finland.

There are a couple of interesting UFA's at forward that I think would be great as wingers on that top line: Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau. Especially Marleau since he can still skate and has been playing the wing.

It will need all of Treliving's wizard powers to convince them though.

Unlike the World Cup where he also dominated?

Gaudreau's career high in PP P/60 is 4.60, set two years ago, so expecting 6+ is a bit unreasonable in my view. And the PP was 13th in xGF/60, and 12th in G/60, so although not spectacular it wasn't "awful." It just doesn't run solely through Gaudreau like in years past; Versteeg, Backlund, and Tkachuk put up better PP numbers this year than Gaudreau has at any point in his career so far.

This isn't specifically directed at you, but sometimes I feel like this forum is more worried about Gaudreau scoring lots of points than what's overall best for the team. If Gaudreau's a 70-75 point player on a team that's defensively solid and deep, we'll be fine. We don't need him scoring 90 points to be successful.

Ya, that was not even remotely close to being onside.

Well there was that little contract hiatus after the WC.
