The one benefit is as the teams that needed goalies get them (Car and now Dal) it really is limiting options for teams that may want to get an asset vs losing a player for nothing.
Other than Calgary, who is still in the market for a goalie before the expansion draft?

The problem I see is I am not overly excited about Grubauer, Rannta, Pickard. I would be happy with Fleury so hopefully that happens but if Vegas has interest and Fleury is willing to go there that could make things difficult. The 2 teams that solved their goaltending woes likely got the best options on the market.
I am ready for the season to be over and the wheeling and dealing to begin

What would it cost flames to put a 4 yr $16MM offer sheet on Grubauer? Would Washington match? Could they match with their cap situation

I am cringing at the idea of the flames moving any assets for a goalie.
It's free agency or bust at this point I think.

That's a 1st and 3rd round pick, and I seriously doubt they match because that is more than they will likely get in a trade for him and they might just lose him for nothing in expansion.

Vancouver - Markstrom (young and unproven)
Winnipeg - Hellebuyck (young and unproven)
Philadelphia - Neuvirth (not really a starter)
Vegas - Nobody
Islanders - Greiss (very, very meh IMO)
Buffalo - Lehner (injury prone, bit of a nutball)
Arizona - Smith (Old and injury prone and not very good, if they protect Domingue then young and proven)
Calgary - Nobody
Those are the teams that SHOULD be in the market for a starter, although some of them will likely just roll with what they have.

Offersheeting a goalie that you hope could become a bonafide NHL starter would be absurd. Treliving wouldn't even entertain that, thankfully.

$2.5-3.0 million would be just a 2nd round pick. They probably trade him for that unless they want to keep him for expansion bait (to keep Vegas away from Orlov).
Maybe if Tre calls them up and offers a 3rd + Rittich they bite, and if not then go ahead with the 2nd round pick level offer sheet. This is of course if Grubauer is Tre's target and they see him as a starter of the future.

Ok but with Bishop off the market what are your options there? Miller, Mason, and Elliott?
No thank you.

I'd rather roll with someone we've got in the system than that quite frankly.

Elliotts problem isn't regular season numbers, so trying to say he's great because of his regular season numbers is pointless.
Elliotts problem is that literally every single time he's been a playoff starter he has had a meltdown in the end. Yes, that happened last year too.
5 times out of 5. Every single time. There is no reason to think this is going to change.
Even if Elliott was the best regular season goalie in the world he's essentially worthless as anything other than the backup, and even the he'd be a risky pick because backups sometimes have to carry the load in the playoffs.
The success or failure of this team is measured by playoff success. Why on earth should we think that somehow Elliott would suddenly keep it together next season, when he has never been able to do it before?
There's a reason why all his teams get rid of him.

Plus offer sheeting a player can't happen until after the expansion draft (and the actual draft). So Vegas could already have the player at that point or the player was passed over and there would be no reason to trade him (cost probably increases significantly).

Miller makes the most sense.
Veteran starter, short term, pretty consistent, no acquisition cost.
Anything else short of a blockbuster for a top 10 goalie is icky.

Am I missing something? When did Elliot have a playoff meltdown in 2016? He played 18 games and had a 921 save percentage.
I'm not exactly advocating for Elliott but if you consider that a meltdown just because his team lost to the Sharks then I don't know

Yeah, you're missing something.
TB vs SJ
Game 2: 3 goals on 23 shots, SV% .870
Game 3: Gets pulled after letting in 3 goals on 14 shots, SV% .769.
Game 4: Doesn't play
Game 5: Doesn't play
Game 6: Gets pulled again after 4 goals on 26 shots for a SV% of .846.
Combined stats for last 3 games:
10 goals against on 63 shots for a SV% of .841.
In other words, Elliott wasn't much better against the Sharks than he was against the Ducks. Only difference with 2015-16 and other years is that it took Elliott a little longer than usual to crash.
St. Louis probably would have lost to the Sharks anyway, which is why Elliotts meltdown wasn't much of a story, but doesn't mean he didn't have his usual meltdown.

Are there any tv shows filming in Calgary that could give a role to Mrs. Miller for a couple of years?

She is unemployed just like hubby, she might love Calgary, things like the Stampede, the Mountains and Chicken on the Way may have caught her attention.
