I really cant see to many serving troops following Trump, the man is just to much of a dofus, he has no political core and if it came to his impeachment over Russia it would be preceded by a dump of massively incriminating documents like his tax returns.
While the tea party is invested in him they and he have no intrinsic philosophical loyalty, in most respects he's everything they despise, a new York liberal, while it will be hard to convince them he's a traitor I suspect once convinced they will be the first to string him up.
While we may have all wanted Rosie to do Bannon on SNL, she slots in much easier has Huckabee, plus they can still have the element of surprise (for now) if they do it, plus it might provoke Trump to fire both Spicer and Huckabee.

What tends to happen in these situations is that soldiers and high ranking people abandon their federal posts and return to their home state/province/republic and join the militias. Often they will seize the military equipment and weaponry in their home states to boost their power.
This is the fear. The expansion of groups like The Oath Keepers and the Three Percenters has been troublesome for military and law enforcement alike. Their radical beliefs and paranoia of the government are exactly the type of thinking that could lead to armed conflict. It is likely to start in a small pocket someplace, but could quickly escalate to a national issue as regional cells activate to support their "brothers." Groups like this are actually the greatest threat to the United States. Domestic terror groups present a much larger threat and defense surface than radical Islamists. These guys are armed to the teeth, have training, and are highly motivated. All they need is a little push.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
...Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!....
You know, I am really starting to think the President is mentally unstable.

He might be mentally unstable but one thing is certainly clear and that is that he is in over his head as President. He doesn't understand how to handle public pressure and public response. He is familiar with running a company and delegating in a board room where decisions can be 're-evaluated without much consequence but that doesn't work as President. He needs to be more calculated and methodical in this role. There are a lot more critics looking at him now.
I wonder how many days in this last week to ten days of insanity overload that Trump has woken up and reminded himself "I have to do this for 44 more months". Wouldn't shock me at all if he's looking for the exit door and this rampage of crazy is an attempt to goad the GOP into impeaching him. He can't quit because it makes him a loser, whereas getting removed allows him to claim the swamp ousted him for trying to drain it.

Impeachment will come with other criminal charges. Trump doesn't want to be exposed to a trial. He'll resign before being impeached.

I doubt this. He's a narcissist and doesn't realize the crap storm that's coming. He's the most powerful person in the world and he's going nowhere. Or so he thinks.

Could the FBI, get his tax returns, for the investigation to Russia, they are doing?
Yes. I would guarantee the FBI have them. That would be step one in looking for ties. Follow the money. The challenge is working through the various shell companies used to funnel money to atrump and his shell companies companies. Yesterday's raid is likely connected.
Trump starts off his morning with more craziness with Comey even after he has been fired. Says there better not be any tapes for him to leak. Trump has got to have the most insecure person holding public office on the planet. He's picking fights with anybody and every body, celebrities, talk show hosts and just random people. Though a veiled threat to a former FBI director he just fired( and is now a private citizen), a director that has the backing of the agency, is just goading the FBI to do something. The president of the US just publicly threatened a private citizen and implied that the FBI had dirt on him.
Quote:
President Trump on Friday morning issued a cryptic threat to fired FBI Director James Comey, amid a storm of media leaks contradicting the White House.
“James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Trump tweeted.
A number of reports emerged late Thursday revealing current and former FBI officials dispute Trump’s account of a meeting he had with Comey earlier this year.
Trump in an NBC interview on Thursday said Comey had requested a dinner with him, during which he asked to stay on as the FBI head.
The president also said Comey told him three times — twice over the phone and once at their dinner meeting — that he was not the subject of any FBI investigations.
But that claim has been met with raised eyebrows in Washington. Bureau officials, speaking to the press, have contradicted Trump’s claims on several points.
People don't like working for incompetent bosses and don't like it when bosses they see as competent get removed for made up reasons.
Said it yesterday but if the administration makes the huge mistake of putting someone incompetent to the table for confirmation (as they've done several times already), that is when you are truly going to start to see the leaks in addition to really seeing the checks and balances in action.
Complicit in the Russia stuff or not the likes of Ryan and McConnell have now made their beds along with the bulk of the GOP. They will be hold on tight even if the ship is sinking. The ship will only be sunk when a handful of senators grow a backbone (or get truly scared about re-election hopes) to stand up to it. This is truly the time for the center GOP to realize they can hold the balance of power. But they can't wait too long or the democrats will just wait for the ship to sink with all on board.
The FBI isn't the DHS which tends to be full of guys who simply crave power and want to act like no law applies to them. The FBI is actually full of honest to goodness good people and actual true patriots. NOt trying to paint everyone in the DHS with the same brush but there is a world of difference in dealing with people from the DHS and people from the FBI.
And it also crosses a line when you keep lying brazenly about why you did it. You don’t pin it on Rod Rosenstein. You don’t pretend it’s about “showboating.” You don’t ludicrously argue that you’ve just finally realized that Comey did Hillary wrong. You don’t also say that you were going to fire him anyway. You don’t say the FBI was in turmoil under Comey, when it wasn’t. And you don’t say you want to get to the bottom of the matter when you have already declared the entire story a hoax. More to the point, you don’t lie about all these things and then go on television and blurt out the truth: “When I decided to just do it [fire Comey], I said to myself, I said, you know, this Russian thing with Trump and Russia … is a made up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election.” Read that again. The president has just said on national television that the Russia investigation was in the front of his mind when he decided impulsively to fire Comey. He has admitted he wanted to remove the FBI director because his investigation — which is fast intensifying — was targeting his campaign. That is called obstruction of justice. His spokeswoman yesterday reiterated that, after the Comey firing, the administration hoped the Russia investigation, which was trivial, would be wound up soon.
Kind of what I'd expected, I doubted there'd be this huge smoking gun in his tax returns.
President Donald Trump’s lawyers say a review of his last 10 years of tax returns do not reflect “any income of any type from Russian sources,” with some exceptions.
The lawyers did not release copies of Trump’s tax returns so The Associated Press cannot independently verify their conclusions.
The letter says there is no equity investment by Russians in entities controlled by Trump or debt owed by Trump to Russian lenders. It does reflect income from the 2013 Miss Universe pageant held in Moscow and a property sold to a Russian billionaire in 2008 for $95 million.
The White House says Trump asked his lawyers for a letter following a request from Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who heads one of the congressional committees investigating Russia’s interference in last year’s election.
Trump is considering cancelling all future press briefings. i.e Because he constantly throws his press core under the bus with things he says, they'll skip this so they can all get their stories straight first.
Quote:
President Trump defended on Friday morning the slew of contradictions in the White House's account of FBI Director James Comey's firing, suggesting he might cancel "all future 'press briefings'" in the name of accuracy.
"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!" Trump tweeted.
Well, Donald Trump's lawyers said so, so it must be true. Come on photon, you're smarter than that.
I'm assuming it's the independent Washington law firm that Trump hired to look at it and write the letter. To me that's different than if it was his usual personal lawyers (who are already in for a pound with Trump).
EDIT: Russians buying properties on the open market is different than what the tax returns would show. I'm not saying he isn't corrupt or that his campaign didn't have inappropriate contact with Russia, I'm just saying there isn't going to be a big smoking gun "Bribes from Putin" line item in his tax returns.
