I'd rather play russian roulette using a revolver loaded with 6 bullets then cheer for the Oilers.

Maybe that's just the way I was raised, or grew up that under no circumstances do you cheer for your rival. they could be trying to win one for the Gipper or playing for little Timmy the boy with the incurable disease and I would still say sorry for your loss, little Timmy is with the angels now and the Gipper is in a better place. but so long Oilers.

There was only one highlight tonight...........first period intermission when they discussed fanned OT winners. I'd been wanting to take another second look at Cam Connor's playoff OT winner since 1979.

Like you said, you don't really care and I get that. It's the people who want to see every Canadian team lose that I don't get.
The Sens have Burrows. F Burrows. Ergo, F the Sens. This isn't rocket appliances.

Have to go there for work from time to time and the city is about 20-30 years behind Calgary. I find the city sad. I can't get excited about the Oilers winning the Cup but I couldn't be bothered hating them or cheering for the Ducks who have been far more of a nemesis to the Flames in the past 10 years plus than the Oilers and are the least likeable team in hockey.
"I don't hate Edmonton" except to insult the city. 20-30 years behind. lol

I grew up in Edmonton (16 yrs), lived 6 blocks from the coliseum. Never went to a game, never cheered for the Oilers.
Joined the army, posted to Calgary, and went back to Calgary after I got out.
Spent 23 yrs total in Calgary, work dried up, wife got job in Edmonton, and we moved.
I still cheer for the Flames, they are my favorite team.
Edmonton has some things over Calgary..... so green in the summer, and far hotter in the summer. Access to lots of good lakes, and quite a few more jobs.
I dislike both the ducks and greasers, but I fricken despise the ducks.... I am cheering for neither team, as I hope neither wins the cup. Rather see Ottawa win, but that means Dion gets a cup....and that would suck.

I simply can't bring myself to be a fanatic. I can favor a team over others, but the day I allow emotions to control me or hate an out-group over something as benign and meaningless as millionaires playing sport, is the day that I step away from the game. My mind is not that childish and weak.

I have no ill-will towards any team in the league.

The only positive one can take about this game was Draisaitl's 5 points. After doing nothing against the Sharks he's now 2nd in playoff scoring with 16pts in 12 games.

This is positive because he's going to get a boatload of cash this summer.

But that's the whole point of being a sports fan- irrational behaviour!

I feel like there's been a lot of rivalry-shaming going on here lately, I don't get it. It's sports. If someone doesn't get a geographic sports rivalry at this point of their life, I don't know what to tell them. Maybe this just isn't for everyone

This is no positive. He looks like he is worthy every penny of a big deal. Paying big time money to big time producers will never hurt any team.
This was not supposed to happen.

You might want to take a peek at their cap situation for the next 2 years.

So true. The same goes for same state teams. No way Giants fans root for the Dodgers or vice-versa, Browns-Bengals, Penguins-Flyers, or the Texas triangle in the NBA with the Spurs, Rockets, and Mavericks.

God I hope so. The problem is the Ducks suck at game 7 home games.

Silver lining it is better that it happened now and not in year 1 of a 3 year team friendly bridge contract.

I doubt it happens but I would love for a team like the Habs to put a huge offer sheet in front of Draisaitl. With a Price extension those 4 number 1 picks should be outside of the top 10

How many minutes have the Ducks actually played with the lead in this series? It has to be ridiculously low for a 3-3 split. Outside of game three they have been trailing or tied for almost the entire series. Amazing it's going seven games but doesn't bode well for the Ducks winning game seven as they really haven't played that well all series and game sevens to them are like the Honda Center is to the Flames.

i'll go against the grain here as I gotta hand it to the oilers as they could have easily come out last night and put up token resistance, but instead they took it right tot he ducks.

I would expect the ducks veterns to carry them in game 7 - but it is now the best of 1 and Edmonton has won in anahiem
