Nah, Leafs still win. It was game 7. That trumps everything, even if it had been four goals. Doing it in game 7 is so much worse.

You think that's bad? So does Rob Rossi.

Frankly I think you can thank Rossi for all of this crap; he set the bar so low for sports journalism this playoffs that everyone thinks they can just say whatever they want now.

He said they were cowards for not properly reviewing the 3rd goal. They caved under pressure because it was late in the game and in Anaheim. He also made disparaging comments about the league's review HQ. It was late and I was half asleep so I don't remember specifics. Also, I couldn't hear over the sound of my own giggling.

Flames should take note for next year. If pushed into the goalie it's fair game. Grab whatever you can. Gotta play the refs in this league now. cause they are stupid.

Also should try to take liberties early in the game. If they call penalties on you, you'll get to play even more aggressive later in the game when it's important. And the other team will be on their heels because they know the next penalty will be on them.

Similar to Game 4 against Calgary, once it got to 3-0, there was not going to be another penalty called against the Ducks unless they impaled someone.

Championships are now won by rogues, not by skill.

Like many have already said, Kelser never actually puts his hand on Talbot's pad. Kelser has both hands on his stick through-out the play and Talbots pad ends up on top of his stick. Yeah he could have moved his hand but why would he? The CBC panel and Oilers media make it seem like he grabbed the pad and moved it to open the five hole.

Their media was always going to be like this

Ever since McDavid took a clean hit in his first game at the young stars tournament and they called for the murder of the hitter their intentions have been clear

Threatening to turn off the tv for the rest of the playoffs was my favorite one though

Maybe when he's covering curling. The guy is a hack.

Anaheim beat Edmonton in every metric through 60 minutes. They were only behind in one category (even strength scoring chances) for the complete game.
And Edmonton's third goal which was scored with help from what shouldve been a high stick/interference penalty. Kesler fumbling in the crease after getting knocked over and prevented from getting up is open to interpretation, a stick to the chops isn't.

I have to say, after looking at James Mirtle's twitter on the incident I'm not sure Kesler grabbed Talbot's pad at all. He's got both hands on his stick and is pinned down. What's he supposed to do here?

Saw it on the initial replay and it looked like he knew exactly what he was doing. He was pushed in but made sure he couldn't get up. Still not enough evidence to over turn but let's not pretend poor Kesler just fell and he couldn't get up.

As much as I hate Kesler he is so sneaky smart.

He never let go of his stick with his left hand at any moment. Even the overhead camera, which looks the most damning for him, clearly shows that he never let go of the stick.

As soon as you watch the replay looking for that, and realize that he doesn't let go, it becomes clear that he physically couldn't grab the pad.

But for those watching with their hearts, it's going to be hard to see.

lol, he had lots of options. That looks like exactly what Kesler would do in that situation. "Gee, the only place for my hands and stick is to completely pin down this pad over here, but I was pushed so...".

Doesn't matter. It's all Cave-man Nurse. Knocks Kesler on top of his goalie and then wacks him several times pinning him there.

Totally dumb.

I never contested that, I was responding to StreetPharmist saying there was nothing Kesler to do. It was classic Kesler and really stupid of Nurse to put him in the position to do so. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

To me it's not really relevant what Kesler does there as long as he's not actually gripping on to Talbot (which he's not).

Whether he's got his hands on his stick or not, he's being pushed down / pinned there by Nurse.

Just a low IQ hockey play by Nurse and the other d-man there pushing the other Duck's player in the way.

Exactly it borders the rules so extremely well that it is wonderful when he is on your team, but when you are playing against him it is so frustrating to watch as both Oilers and Flames fans are aware. The guy is an incredible hockey player to cheer for and an incredible hockey player to cheer against. He is a shifty, smarmy player who every single team in the league would love on their team. There are few players who possess his skillset, who can play exceptionally well at either end of the ice and act as an agitator/#######.

You conveniently left out the part where he's a gutless coward and embellishing chronic diver.

As good as he is (and he's a great defensive two-way centre), I'd never want any part of that puke on a team I cheer for.

No one is more of a mouth piece / tough guy until someone his size steps up in the entire league.

That's the nutty thing. On all four calls (Calgary no goal in Game 2, Anaheim high stick goal in Game 3, Perry's bump on Talbot in game 4, and then the 3-3 goal last night), every call on the ice favoured the Ducks. None were overturned after video review.

Had the referees made the opposite call on the ice, I imagine at least some of reviews go the other way.
