Here's Obamas address to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9, 2009 about why ACA makes sense.
Does anyone here think Trump could present something 1% as credible?

Cripes I watched his interview and the guy doesn't even understand that the bill will end up costing his own state over $3 billion. He didn't read it, he didn't understand it and he still voted for it. This is a vote based on ideology alone.
This is why Ryan and company wanted this passed before CBO. Lets keep those pesky facts of out decision making. The US has move completely away from democracy and empiricism and vote based on kleptocratic donations and knee jerk reactions.

Still upset Biden didn't run and that Bernie didn't win the nomination.

California Deputy Governor, and most likely Governor in 2018 Gavin Newsom

This is the new face of the party, and most likely candidate for 2020

It's because of this kind of stuff that most European's, and other democracies, roll their collective eyes when a US politician, of any stripe, stands up and expounds about America as the finest example of democracy on the planet.
Another egregious recent example, again from good old red state North Carolina, was when the outgoing Republican Governor, and his GOP cronies, essentially stripped the incoming Democrat Governor of much ability to govern and specifically restricted powers related to elections boards. I can't recall a better example where political power has been used in such a cynical way.

ACLU Statement on So-Called ‘Religious Freedom’ Executive Order
https://www.aclu.org/news/aclu-state...xecutive-order
“Today’s executive order signing was an elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome. After careful review of the order’s text we have determined that the order does not meaningfully alter the ability of religious institutions or individuals to intervene in the political process. The order portends but does not yet do harm to the provision of reproductive health services.
“President Trump’s prior assertion that he wished to ‘totally destroy’ the Johnson Amendment with this order has proven to be a textbook case of ‘fake news.’
“The directive to federal agencies to explore religious-based exceptions to healthcare does cue up a potential future battle, but as of now, the status quo has not changed.
“What President Trump did today was merely provide a faux sop to religious conservatives and kick the can down the road on religious exemptions on reproductive health care services.

She'd be even older than Hillary was, is further to the left, has less experience in government, and will deal with all the same sexism Hillary faced. Not only that but the Trump machine has been ridiculing her for months and is already treating her as his defacto opponent. Dems would be nuts to go down that road.

Warren is younger than both Biden and Sanders. Biden and Sanders will be into their 80s by the time they are into their presidency... probably little chance of a second term in either case from age related issues if either become president.

They need someone that can lie with a straight face, prone to conspiracy theories, misogynist, racist, xenophobic, narcissistic and mentally unstable.
Give the people what they want.

What a success by Kushner. He sure took care of that opioid crisis he was tasked with.

Trump budget would effectively kill drug control office
President Donald Trump’s fiscal 2018 budget would cut about 95 percent of funding for the Office of National Drug Control Policy, effectively ending its mission as the lead agency in charge of combating the opioid crisis and other drug epidemics, according to an internal office email and two sources who spoke with POLITICO

Another Trump pick withdraws. So much winning!
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/05/politi...wal/index.html
Quote:
President Donald Trump's choice for Army secretary announced Friday that he is withdrawing his name from consideration.
"It is with deep regret today I am withdrawing my nomination to be the Secretary of the Army," Mark Green said in a statement.
On Tuesday, CNN reported that the nomination was in serious jeopardy, and he could be withdrawing as soon as this week, three sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
The decision by Green, Trump's second pick for the post, came after his nomination ran into trouble following a backlash after past controversial statements on LGBT issues, Islam and evolution were revealed.

Newsom/Harris 2020. Gavin Newsom is a very charismatic and strong speaker. Has a good head on his shoulders and has forwarded some very progressive policy. Kamala Harris is everything you want in a VP candidate. Smart and checks a ton of boxes. Nice blend of policy positions with that of Newsom. Only problem is they are both from California. Might be better off with Kirsten Gillibrand from New York, but she might not check enough boxes for the base and presents a less than ethnically diverse ticket.

Would absolutely love to have the Democrat nomination (P and VP) be from California. Gavin Newsom is awesome.

That's still the issue though. A heck of a lot of middle America are sick and tired of California and New York telling them what to do and don't identify with those states. I really think the Democrats need some dynamic voice from somewhere else.
