you want to build a team that can win in the playoffs, Eberle is the exact opposite of that. No thank you.

Didn't see it here but if kovalchuk does plan on wanting to return to the NHL he has requested to be traded to the rangers or Florida.

I mean he would be a cheap immediate upgrade over every one of our RW's. If the price is a 2nd, you wouldn't do it until we can find a longer term fit? Winner or not, he's a much better fit for that line than Brouwer, Chiasson, Ferland...etc

He can be another stopgap Hudler as he knows how to play with skilled linemates, and is a RHS.

Hall would cost much, much more. I'd love Hall, but it isn't realistic.

I've heard that Edmonton might not be able to afford him due to upcoming raises needing to be spent elsewhere. A deal could be made with Vegas if they leave him unprotected. Only two years left. I don't see the issue. He isn't ideal, but he's still a solid scoring winger.

I feel Bad for Monahan if he has to centre Eberle and Johnny. Poor guy would have a full time jobe trying to make up for their defensive lapses.

None of our RW's are even that good defensively anyways (sans Chiasson). Brouwer is slow and lazy as piss and Ferland is routinely losing his man and puckwatching. Hudler wasn't a defensive stalwart himself anyways.

Eberle as essentially a cap dump would gain my full approval. He's not super great but he'd fit perfectly on that top line. His contract expires right when Tkachuk gets expensive as well.

I wouldn't pay actual assets for him since the grease will absolutely need to move his salary and because he isn't elite but I'd welcome him on the team.

I should add, I actually like Jankowski and would rank him as our top prospect. I'm just hoping he can fill our 3C spot in the coming years.
I'm saying Jankowski projects as a top two line skilled playmaking centre with size. Obviously Calgarty's centre depth may prevent him from achieving that immediately but he does project as an offensive centre with power play upside.

If there was ever a case of a guy needing a change of scenery, it's Eberle. He really is a great guy

And what we're saying is that he was not ready this past season. A year dominating the AHL was best for his development.

But now he's looking pretty ripe to make the jump sooner rather than later.

If Janko doesn't force his way onto the roster next season I'm going to be pretty disappointed. It won't be the end of the world, but disappointing none the less. He doesn't even have to do it as a center either IMO. Although that would be OK too. He needs to be battling Bennett and Lazar for the #3/#4 center slot, but if he doesn't play center right away and starts as a winger that's alright.

Same with Kulak. He should be forcing his way past Bartkowski onto the roster as the full time 3rd pair left side D option, anything less will be a major disappointment in my eyes.

The rumors surrounding Kontinental Hockey League superstar Ilya Kovalchuk picked up a great deal of steam today after TSN insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the Devils were expected to speak to his agent, but even that update pales in comparison to this latest bit of news.
Russian reporter Slava Malamud has just poured gasoline onto the fire with his latest report, one that now claims Kovalchuk does not want to remain with the Devils and furthermore one that only leaves three teams in the mix.
Malamud is reporting that "Kovalchuk would likely prefer to stay in New York City or wind up in Florida," indicating that only the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and Florida Panthers are the only teams in the mix.
For those thinking that New Jersey is close to New York and Kovalchuk could choose to remain with the team, Malamud made it clear that would not be the case.
"It will be sign-and-trade, though."

It sounds like we have a monster trade on the horizon!

Eberle is a one dimensional forward that's already hit his ceiling. He has a place in the NHL and he would probably be a decent fit on the Flames first line and power play but he makes a lot of money and the Oilers would never trade him to the Flames. The Oilers will likely be shopping him around at the draft as they will need to rid themselves of his contract as RNH holds more value.

Because if it is a sign and trade with New Jersey they don't get a say.
