I had been hoping that the hold up on the negotiations was that Burke and King and particularly Treliving had known all along that an extension was coming but had made the decision to not hold any discussion while the season was ongoing.
King: "You're coming back, right?"

Burke: "Great, talk once the season's over?"
Tre: "Yep."

Wasn't the alleged holdup the insistence that BT and Burke have less interference from ownership? One would think the implied change to how business is done is a positive thing.

Well the rumour was there may have been interference in hockey decisions from King/Edwards. If Treliving is coming back, it would mean that interference is a thing of the past.
