Fleury scored 37 goals in 40 games for the baby Flames (IHL - Salt Lake Golden Eagles). Ranheim scored 68 as a rookie.
Otto had 27 goals as an AHL rookie.
I hope Jankowski is more like Fleury and Otto and less like Boyd.

Bold: Jankowski will score a playoff goal for the Flames.
Edit: this season.

I don't think it's fair to say they don't mean much. It doesn't mean a sure thing, but it does seem to mean much higher odds of becoming an NHL regular or even an impact player than on average.
Much higher odds is something.

I think it was more the fact that these were Flames specific prospects and the nightmare of their floptastic future was replaying in my mind like a bad 80's song..

So I was looking at Janko's estimated ice time stats, and I noticed that... Jankowski was really good relative to other U23 forwards. Only guy clearly better offensively, Jake Guentzal, is already playing with the best player on the best line on the best team in the league right now (and is only a month younger). And isn't the same tier of two-way player that Mark is.
From the sample of 127 twenty-two-or-younger forwards to play 30+ AHL games last season (and keep in mind Guentzal only played half the season in the A, so there's probably some small sample size issue pumping him a bit compared to Jankowski who was down there when all of Stockton went on a teamwide slump, and further WBS was a more potent offensive team throughout its lineup):
5-on-5:
Jankowski was 67th in estimated time-on-ice @ 12.04 minutes
Jankowski was 3rd in primary points per 60 estimated minutes @ 2.34 (Guentzal 1st @ 3.19, Cehlarik 2nd @ 2.54)
Jankowski was 3rd in points per 60 estimated minutes @ 2.65 (Guentzal 1st @ 3.43, Cehlarik 2nd @ 2.74)
Jankowski was 1st in estimated Quality of Competition @ 14.08 minutes (Guentzal 85th @ 13.31, Cehlarik 98th @ 13.24 - BTW Shinkaruk, Mangiapane, Klimchuk round out the top four in U23 QoC while Poirier and Lomberg were also respectively 8th and 12th. It's safe to say no other organization challenged its U23 players to play hard AHL minutes the way ours did. Some food-for-thought when criticizing these kids' production)
Jankowski was 92nd in estimated Quality of Teammate (Guentzal was 50th, Cehlarik was 55th, Puljujarvi was 1st.)
Jankowski was 3rd in on-ice GF% (Guentzal was 1st, Cehlarik was 12th...and...surprisingly... Hunter Smith was 2nd.)
Jankowski was 5th in GF% relative to team (Guentzal was 7th, Cehlarik was 19th, Smith 11th, Lomberg 29th)
Considering it's unlikely that Jankowski will get much PP time, his 5-vs-5 play suggests he should be able to translate his game to the NHL. Well, that and the good ol' eye test.

If Jankowski can come up and contribute like Guentzel did, that would be fantastic! (33 pts in 40 NHL games, 5 G 2 A in 6 playoff games)

If Jankowski is not a full-time NHLer next season it would be a crime against humanity.

I have a feeling Matt Stajan will be taken by the Vegas Golden Knights, opening up a spot.

According to Matt Pfeffer's WAR model (Wins Above Replacement), Jankowski was the best player in the AHL this year (if I'm interpreting this correctly).

Be careful what you ask for. Treliving has one very noticeable flaw.
He's stubborn.
Everybody think he is going to circle back to Jim Rutherford to acquire MAF. Treliving is most likely either going to chase Bishop or go in balls deep with Rutherford to acquire Matt Murray.
People don't realize how much sense Matt Murray to Calgary makes. He fits Calgary's Core Age. MAF fits the core age of the Penguins. By trading Murray the penguins can acquire multiple assets to make that penguins team deeper.
I cringe when I see MAF playing in the playoffs as it becomes more and more realistic. I would believe something like 2017 1st, 2018 2nd + Sam Bennett/Mark Jankowski + Andersson/Kylington + Klimchuk/Shinkaruk.
That is the kind of assets Calgary is going to give up to get a #1 goalie that meets the core of this team.
Having seen Janko play he is very likely going to be Calgary's #1 center in 3-5 years. He does everything exceedingly well. His offensive skills are as good as Sam Bennett and his defensive skills are only behind Backlund.
I do think Treliving being a stubborn OX could cost us badly.

What makes you believe Treliving is stubborn?
If anything he seems pretty capable of admitting mistakes. See: Raymond buyout, Bollig buried in the minors.

If you actually think ANYONE, much less Treliving, would pay that much for Matt Murray...I don't really know what to say to you.
Murray is a great goaltender, but I don't know if I've ever read a worse trade proposal. And I occasionally read HFboards.
