I remember when that photo first surfaced we discussed it here on CP. Some around here defended it as a young, rich athlete having fun that doesn't speak about his character. Ballers gunna ball, make it rain - everything is lit AF! Funny to follow his off-ice issues since then.
Go 5 x 6.25 and call it a day. Give up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Would gladly pay that for Drouin.
I think if you think you have a good team and the player is a missing piece you have to have confidence that 1st round pick will be 20-30 so probably worth it as his age is right in line with Monahan, Gaudreau, Hamilton and would make for a really good long term core.
Tampa would match that offer sheet without hesitation. You can go over the salary cap during the summer, and Yzerman has shown his ability to shed salary when needed.
To get Drouin, it'll be a trade and undoubtedly cost more than a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. At minimum it'd be equal to Hamilton's deal, but you have to into consideration the fact that Yzerman is one hell of a GM when it comes to trades.
Drouin seems to be a similar player as Gaudreau and they're both LW, he is bigger though. Maybe if he can switch to RW, then it would make sense.
We probably should have given an offer sheet to Kucherov when we had the chance lol. I don't think Yzerman would have been able to match considering their tight cap space + still having Bishop at the time and having to give contracts to Stamkos and Killorn. Kucherov could have been that game breaker top line RW that we need.
I'm crazy, I don't want Drouin on the Flames. I feel the Flames have enough skilled playmakers in their top six.
I want trigger man for Monny and Johnny, someone like Kovalchuk. Doesn't have to be Kovalchuk, but a player mimicking Kovalchuks skillset. A RS proven trigger man.

I definitely understand the appeal of a RHS, but don't underestimate Drouin's shot. If he were on the Flames, he'd instantly have our most dangerous shot. His release is fantastic.
I'm hoping he signs $2.5-2.75 for 2-3 years. Within those 2-3 years we'll be able to see who Sam Bennett really is. Is he a top 6 player? Or is he a bottom 6 player? I'm honestly feeling he's a true 3rd line center. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not high on him at all. Perhaps most of that bias comes from Oilers taking Draisaitl right before us and Draisaitl is already a sure fire top 6 star, soon to be elite, player, while we're sitting here still unsure about Bennett.

I don't even care if it's a right or left shot. But Drouin is not a shoot first guy, like Gaudreau he's a pass first thinker. Hence why I said playmakers. We need that true shoot first guy.
The RHS is somewhat important though, hence the Brouwer signing. So I do put that into consideration. An Iggy type bomb from the right side on the Pp would make the Flames Pp the best in the league
And no, I do not condone the signing of Iggy. Kovalchuk or younger please.
Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant they both seem to be players who are more playmakers than shoot first snipers, even though he does have a good release, and I believe we need a true shooter on the top line with Johnny and Monahan. And with Tkachuk as our other top 6 LW, it would be hard to fit Drouin unless if he makes the switch to RW. He would look nice on a future line with Tkachuk then.

Lol exactly what I just posted. We truly need a shoot first, top line shooter, which Drouin is not.

You know if he sees Drouin get offered a ton of money he might want a bit more. Not as much but a bit more.
I'm pretty sure Sam is a level headed kid. He would be the first person to tell you the season didn't go as he would have liked. I don't think Sam would look at the Drouin situation and pout. He knows he needs to earn it. He had a great playoff series, now build off of it. His contract will be more fuel to the fire for him. He will be a great player for this team.
