I can tell you from experience that it's absolutely fine to wear any pants without a belt.

However, I can also tell you from experience that you should probably avoid wearing a belt without any pants.

Also, as a bonus, no possibility of this...

But relying on the underwear to aim is why there is always pee all over the rim of the urinal.

You want to undo your pants entirely, go ahead, but just grab your business and take control. Men's bathrooms are disgusting.

Also, while a hilarious scene, I don't understand how the wang in the zipper can possibly happen. Unless you're going commando, that is the risk you take with an unfurnished basement

Can we get a poll on how people pee at urinals? What are the different categories?

Does the belt actually affect how you pee? Assuming no:

A) Remain totally buttoned/buckled, flip over the waistband of the underpants/pants
B) Unbuckle belt/unbutton button, unzip fly, flip over underpants.
C) Remain buckled/button, unzip fly and pull through opening.
D) Undo pants, drop to knees/ankles, exposing bare ass to everyone.
E) Sit on the toilet because of reasons
F) You're not cool unless you pee your pants.

A through D assume one uses their hands. I don't really understand how one could not, but maybe I'll try it out.

You should grab a stool and clipboard with pen and paper and spend the day in your work bathroom. Its better to collect the statistics yourself rather than rely on self-reporting.

MOD EDIT: No pics like that please.

If you wear sweatpants, don't wear a belt. Wear a fanny pack. I learned this from Oilers fans...

You are one of those never-nudes, aren't you?

I am going to say that socks are optional, maybe even a little discouraged at places like the beach, swimming pool, shower, when also wearing sandals, etc.

One time the button on my pants popped off while I was buttoning up after a bathroom visit. Belt saved me that day.

I'm a shorty, 5'7'', at around 135. Depending on the style and fit, I wear pants anywhere from 28-32 right now but pretty much need a belt with all the 32 pants.

You can search and find medical tables that will show you waist size ranges. Height to waist ratio can be used as a better tool than BMI to predict health issues.

The average American male is 5'9" with a 39" waist, otherwise known as fat.
Yeah, simple rule of thumb is you should be looking at under half your height for pant sizes if you care about your life expectancy. So your typical 6 foot person, should be ideally looking at size 34-35 pants, especially with the vanity sizing. Of course with exceptions.

This may be just another instance of a man in his 30's struggling to keep up with the latest trends (like skinny pants as a man who grew up in the baggy jeans era, and shoes with no socks), but this just seems weird to me. As a general rule, that's an unkempt look.

Totally agreed with another poster that a belt is a nice accessory piece, plus helps match your shoes to something. But if current fashion trends are dictating no belt right now, then so be it I guess..just stop doing that as soon as it goes out of fashion again, by default its sloppy.

Any time a shirt is tucked in you should be wearing a belt...or anytime really. Even with jeans, I always wear a belt. And a nice one too...Nothing destroys a look more easily than a frayed belt. It can be a worn out belt, but should be nice leather if worn.

Now that I've gotten more into squats though a belt is totally necessary. I have a 30ish inch waist and any pants that fit me in the leg are likely to be a 33''+ waist. However, even if that wasn't true, I'd always wear a belt. Mostly because I'm not six anymore.

I've seen more than a few 20-30 year old with skinny pants, shoes and no socks. IMO sagging pants was the worst fashion trend in the history of humans so this stuff pales in comparison but no socks with pants and shoes is arguably worse than no belt.

Agreed. And purposely wearing pants that are 2 inches too short to show off your ankle and the fact you have no socks on. WTF is that all about?

A few floors of the building I work in, is occupied by a bank and this seems to be a trend among bankers in Calgary, pants 2 or 3 inches to short and no socks.

LOL at all the hate for fashion. If you dont like, dont wear it.
But man theres so many men in downtown Calgary that wear cheap suits or even worse cheap black slacks with a dress shirt, no tie, and scuffed up pleather dress shoes and that their idea of dressing up.

End of the day, fashion changes and trends come and go. If you dont like a trend, dont worry it will be gone soon enough. Then there will likely be another trend you will not understand and be grumpy about.
