I don't watch Rachel Maddow often, but The first half of her show tonight was a clinic in how to lay out a new story.

The subsidies that Boeing, Bobardier and Emberger receive are all pretty terrible. Such a waste of government investment.

Trump was "psyched" to terminate NAFTA. He doesn't see the lives changes will effect, he just sees the news coverage he'll get when he does something.

Wants to charge South Korea for protection AND terminate their trade deal.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday a major conflict with North Korea is possible in the standoff over its nuclear and missile programs, but he would prefer a diplomatic outcome to the dispute.
"There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with North Korea. Absolutely," Trump told Reuters in an Oval Office interview ahead of his 100th day in office on Saturday.
...
In other highlights of the 42-minute interview, Trump was cool to speaking again with Taiwan's president after an earlier telephone call with her angered China. He also said he wanted South Korea to pay the cost of the U.S. THAAD anti-missile defense system, which he estimated at $1 billion.
He said he intended to renegotiate or terminate a U.S. free trade pact with South Korea because of a deep trade deficit with Seoul.

Tillerson says China told NK that they'd impose sanctions if they conducted another nuclear test.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that China threatened the North Korean government with sanctions if it undertook another nuclear weapons test.
Tillerson made his comments on Fox News ahead of a visit to the United Nations and amid rising tensions over the North Korean nuclear weapons program.
"They confirmed to us that they had requested that the regime conduct no further nuclear test," Tillerson said of the Chinese. "In fact, we were told by the Chinese that they informed the (North Korean) regime that if they did conduct further nuclear tests, China would be taking sanctions action on their own."

Republicans' threat to shut down the government by holding themselves hostage seems to be over for now, the vote on Trumpcare 2 (2.1? 3?) delayed until next week.
House Republican leaders on Thursday delayed a vote on their Obamacare repeal bill until next week at the earliest, denying President Donald Trump a major legislative victory during his first 100 days in office.
Speaker Paul Ryan and his top lieutenants decided during a late-night huddle in the Capitol that they still do not have the votes to pass the stalled health-care legislation. At least 15 House Republicans remain solidly opposed to the bill, with another 20 leaning no or still undecided, according to GOP lawmakers and aides.

How is Obama doing what every president before him since Carter has done a problem? If a group of people want to pay him to speak, that's fine. In case someone missed it, he's not president anymore, he can't change the laws for rich people (Trump's trying to do that enough anyway).
Has anyone ever heard one of these post-president speeches? Bush had great ones like saying "Bowling is fun" when the bowling industry paid him to speak. I'm sure there was a huge uproar about the big bowling lobby influencing politics then.

Yeah, both the Bushes, Clinton and Carter all made money doing the public speaking gig after they were president. Heck, Bush Sr. and Clinton even toured together before. I recall Clinton was paid a couple of million even in Canada for an event.
Obama is currently one of the best orators (maybe one of the best of our generation) which is a highly valued and rewarded skill to have. Nothing wrong with him cashing in on it.
