Yep I think he could do that. There would be a lot more substance to the segment as while Darryl doesn't say a lot when he does speak people listen.

You people are crazy. Sutter is a terrible public speaker. Nobody wants to watch him outside a small niche of people who actually enjoy his approach. He makes long silent pauses to construct his dialogue. He has only one tone. And he gives the shortest possible response imaginable.

It would be like watching Ben Stein on heroin trying to avoid any form of conversation.

Sure, it might be funny from a trolls perspective. But for anyone who wants insight and wants to be engaged with their commentators, Sutter is the worst candidate.

Don't confuse the GM or coach with the man. He's always been calculated and measured when answering media questions. Away from the rink he's got a lot more to say. I don't think he would ever accept the job if offered but I think he would have good opinions and insight.

One of the amusing things I recall from his time in Calgary is one time on the radio he didn't realize that they went live. It wasn't until they were a good 2 or 3 minutes into the conversation that they confirmed when asked that they were live. His demeanor did a complete 180. Probably got a glimpse of what it would be like to sit and have a beer with him during that initial conversation before he flipped the switch.

Darryl hates the camera. The last thing he would do is a TV segment.

If they ever want to cut Coach's Corner down to 12 seconds, of which 8 are spent in dead silence and the other 4 delivering an unanswerable zinger, Sutter's definitely their man.

gary lawless ✔ @garylawless
Just spoke to Darryl Sutter and he says he's "staying in the game." Will be picky about situation and won't rush, will need the right fit.

gary lawless ✔ @garylawless
Sutter says he's willing to go to a rebuild, "if I have comfort with the situation," or to a contender. "I'm interested in both."

gary lawless ✔ @garylawless
Sutter: "Been lucky. But I'm not 30 and don't need to take the first job. If it's right for Chris, Wanda and myself, we'll give it a look."

gary lawless‏Verified account @garylawless
There was some speculation that Sutter might retire to the farm: "Not yet. The game has given us everything and we still have lots to give."

gary lawless‏Verified account @garylawless
Sutter: "We were 6 years in L.A. and won a couple times. 6 years in Calgary, 6 years in San Jose, a long time in Chicago. All been great."

He's one guy I would consider dumping GG for. I think he meshes pretty well with the Burke/Treliving school. Or better yet, GG with his systems and Sutter with his seemingly innate coaching ability as co-coaches if they could pull it off (never done successfully though).

The Sutter era ended so poorly here but there is definitely unfinished business here he needs to take care of. Dump GG for Darryl and sign Iggy. We can turn back the clock here as Iggy and Darryl will have a much better team to work with this time around.

It did, but that was with him as GM. If he remained just the head coach I think the team would have been much better off.

Yeah I know, hot take.

Accurate? Because clearly the writer doesn't have an ax to grind.

He makes a good point with Richards and Voynov

Player has a drug problem but isnt good anymore = terminate contract
Player beats his wife but is very good still = keep him around until NHL forces you to kick him loose

He also makes a good point about stripping the captaincy off Brown which appears to be done only because his offensive production was down and he was hoping that Brown would sour on the Kings and relax his NMC/NTC. There's no doubt in my mind Lombardi is a guy I wouldn't want near my favorite hockey team.

Praying to the highest of heavens that he lands in the Desert

Yeah I don't get why Tippett is untouchable there. IMO he's outlasted his welcome as good coach or not it's time for a change.

Yes, accurate. Not one falsehood was uttered in that article.

Wherever Darryl goes, they will be getting an excellent coach.

Release King, move Treliving to King's position, hire Sutter as GM and keep Burke where he is.

I know Sutter screwed up a couple times as GM, but I think he would have learned from it and overall, I think he did well (aside from not finding a decent coach).

Treliving is both a good hockey and business mind and would probably be great on higher level.
