If there's one reason I want the Flames to clean house in management it is that the organization has built a team of psychologically crippled wimps. They seem to have figured it out with the drafting of Tkachuk, only to squander his potential by putting him on a short leash. They sign Brouwer to add some edge and he doesn't even show up in the playoffs. Bouma of old has effectively disappeared. We send guys like Hathaway, who are actually crashing and banging, down to the minors. We keep pushover vets like Stajan around. I just don't like this group, I don't like how they play, and I blame the people who give and take the minutes.
Since the sweep I've expressed this view and the common response is the Flames need consistency above all else. I think that's hogwash. I really don't like the Flames identity and don't want more of the same haplessness.

As soon as sports makes one this depressed, he should probably start cheering for another team.

It's either the Flames or I stop watching. But yes, stepping away is definitely an option.

Things can change pretty darn quick in this world. Look at 2015 when the Oilers were floundering in year million of their rebuild but the Flames made the playoffs one year after declaring a rebuild of their own and won a playoff round to boot.
Next season, who knows. I would put even money on the Flames finishing ahead of the Oilers no matter how deep Edmonton goes this year.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I don't know if they made it look easy, but its definitely frustrating (as it was in the regular season) to see a team like Edmonton walk in and get the job done when the Flames can't.

Wondering if Carlyle goes away from his hard matching like he did towards the end of the game last night.
Seems to stifle their offense a little bit.

I also wonder if he puts Bernier in? Gibson didn't really look great did he?

Not yet. Maybe if you are going to Edmonton down 0-2 and Gibson plays poorly. If he plays well and they still lose I think he still gets game 3.
He could bounce back and win. He is their future so I don't think you pull to early in the series.

Look I'm not trying to take anything away from the Oilers - they found a way and that's what matters. Having said that, in my eyes they were pretty soundly outplayed and won the game on the back of some extremely good fortune.
First goal: the first penalty of the 5 on 3 was a complete joke and in my opinion could have possibly even gone the other way. Getzlaf breaks his stick and it's effectively a 5 on 2, a rebound lands right on Letestu's stick with an open net and a stickless defender.
Second goal: Different circumstances leading to the PP but again the rebound jumps right to Letestu with an open net. You literally couldn't have placed 2 pucks in better spots for the guy.
Third goal: Terrible change by a Ducks forward gives the Oilers an effective 5 on 4 and leaves Larsson completely alone. Great shot to bury it.
Fourth goal: Pinball off a defender from behind the net.
So again, I'm not saying they didn't deserve to win, it's not as though the Ducks got completely robbed of a deserved victory, but the way I saw it everything kind of aligned for the Oilers to score last night and they had good fortune on their side. It happens.

I don't seriously want to see a player injured. You'd think with my posting history you know that I was talking tongue in cheek.
I'd like the Oilers to lose with no excuses.

Teams make their own luck. The Oilers did that by playing hard for the entire game. The Flames start to buckle as soon as the first thing goes wrong in any game against the Ducks. They obviously aren't in the heads of the Oilers like they are the Flames

You could say that about their entire season. Seems like everything has gone the Oilers' way this year, and unfortunately it's starting to resemble one of those "lightning in a bottle" type seasons. Two of the top seeds have been knocked out, they lucked out by drawing a mediocre Sharks team in round 1, and they're getting the kind of elite goaltending that can steal a series against a superior team like the Ducks.
That being said, even if the Oilers beat Anaheim (puke!), I honestly don't think they'll get past the Preds. Those guys are playing some of the best hockey I've seen all year, and the goaltending they're getting with Rinne is easily on par with Talbot. If the horseshoes don't drop out and they manage to get past Nashville into the Finals, they'll likely have to deal with Crosby and the Penguins. Thankfully the Oilers still have a VERY tough road ahead of them no matter which way you slice it.
A Cup win by team lottery ball would be absolutely horrifying and would potentially ruin the game of hockey for me...but I still don't see it happening. Eventually their luck is gonna run out and the hockey gods will let us all off the hook.

The Ducks also hit a couple of posts and the Oilers only hit one. Oilers definitely got the bounces that game.
I thought it was a fairly even game though.

The Flames lost 4 one goal games to the Ducks
they didn't get the bounces and had terrible goal tending...Oilers would have lost last night too with Brian Elliott 2017 playoff goal tending. There is a reason the guy is on his way out of town.
it is what it is...goalie is part of the team though
