I read that on a fortune cookie when I was 7 or 8 and have never forgotten it. Although I break it all the time I have never forgotten it!

"it's easier to be critical than it is to be correct" is another I always recall. Meaning it's easier to criticize other peoples mistakes than it is to take the risk of committing your own.
