Ducks will win this series in 6 or less.

Personally, I'm thinking Oilers in 6.

It's a weird series to call because neither team was impressive in their first series. The Ducks were soundly outplayed by Calgary in 3 of the 4 games and were gifted a win thanks to goaltending. The Oilers found themselves against a San Jose team that played below their ability in every way, yet still had to go 6 games.

The Oilers don't really have a "game," they have McDavid and Talbot. McDavid seems pretty neutered, so if the Ducks can play their aggressive game and actually score against quality goaltending then they'll take this easily. If they have trouble scoring (which is possible, most of their goals against the Flames were gifted) then it could be anybody's series.

You are significantly under rating both teams IMO. Both teams were impressive in the first round. The narrative of Calgary soundly outplaying the Ducks is being overplayed. No doubt with better goaltending Flames would not have been swept, no argument there. But Ducks didn't need to elevate their game either.

And Oilers showed some depth beyond McDavid and beyond one abysmal effort, looked pretty good.

Playoffs are all about the ability to win close games and both teams looked impressive in so doing.

I think the wild card is Ducks goaltending. That will determine the series.

Hate the Ducks but they need to put a stop to the Oilers now. Can't have them getting even remotely close to sniffing the cup. Ugh. Just imagine if they won it. All the alumni would come down from the rafters to take a turn with it (before current players no less). Drunk Gretzky. Messier with his bag of chips. Then there would be Katz and of course his court appointed handler.

My daughter is obsessed with ducks right now, so hopefully that is a good sign.

Im doing the opposite. Both teams won their series while playing fairly underwhelming hockey because they encountered teams with a critical fault, and both teams are capable of playing significantly better than they played.

It takes one team to play to their ability, and that team should skate to the win. Based on the last series I think it'll be the Ducks.

To suggest the Oilers and Ducks were impressive in the first round is what would be considered significantly under rating them. They were both sufficient, that's it.

Nashville and Pittsburgh are teams you'd call "impressive" coming out of that first round.

With the exception of Jagger, who's cheering for the Oilers to win?

edit: Apologies - I guess Everlast is in there too

I hope the Ducks hack and slash their star as much as they did to us.

I kind of am. I hate both teams, but like being entertained by playoff hockey and the playoffs always have an extra buzz and entertainment factor with Canadian teams.

For some reason two American teams usually gives me a pretty meh reaction. I mean it's still playoff hockey and an upgrade on regular season, but I want as many Canadian teams as possible for as long as possible.

I only cheer for the Oilers and Canucks to lose in the Finals, any other Canadian team can win the Cup and it would be fun to watch.

No 'effing' thanks. The few oiler fans I know are all ready unbearable making it to the 2nd round and the flames getting swept. Add in them making it to western finals or even Stanley cup finals? Nope.

You can always try to not take these things personally. It's just sports at the end of the day.

My team just finished 2nd last in a draft year without a Crosby/Tavares/McDavid/Matthews, and under new draft rules which don't render to us a good chance of picking 1st. Do you think all the chirping from my Flames and Oiler fan buddies is going to have me crawling into a cave? Lol, of course not.

Oilers in 7. McLellan is a better coach than Carlyle IMO, and I think Talbot stands on his head for a few games.

And you can thank the Oilers' years of ineptitude for your lowered chance of picking first.
