I think it would be Gaudreau plus. Johnny is a small skilled winger and hasn't proven that he is elite yet.

Eichel is on the path to being an elite number 1 centre. Plus he has a few more years of control.

I think the plus would be Bennett or Backlund. Both are 2nd/3rd line centre tweeners. Bennett has some high upside, but it's not nearly as high as Eichel's.

Next to Patrick Kane, is there a bigger US born hockey star than Johnny?

it may not be enough due to the contract situation, but I think eastern conference teams would pay a lot to get him.

I look at this like the Johanson for Jones trade. Both outstanding young players.

The biggest US star after Kane is probably Eichel. As a 19/20 year old, he put up near a point per game, plus he's big and strong and a centreman.

Love Johnny, but Flames have to add more.

Johnny Hockey is a household name for hockey fans - and his performance at the world cup cemented that.
