With regards to deadmonton winning the conference, let's not get carried away. The coilers haven't even beat the Sharks yet. 2 home wins for San Jose and they're up 3-1. Think positive guys!

Does anybody have a replay of the Hamilton penalty? While he was far from an innocent bystander in that exchange, I don't know how he can be raked over the coals when he was interfered with the way he was.

Series has been a combination of bad penalties taken, bad penalties called, and bad mental mistakes. Flames really have beaten themselves so far.

He just has to be smarter than grabbing the stick there. He did and it was right in front of the officials. Simply can't make it easy for them to make a call.

The reason why the Flames are having such a hard time with the Ducks is they're just free ranging and no one is pasting any of the Ducks into the boards. So, if you're not pasting any players to the board, all you're doing is chasing them, holding their sticks, grabbing their body parts, or tripping them. Thing with playoffs is that it's a game of attrition. This is why a lot of people say if the Kings make the playoffs, they go far - it's because that team will pound you to the boards every chance they get and it's relentless. That's why they've been successful. Sure, they didn't make the playoffs twice in the last 3 years - it's a fault of a Sutter-system played playoff style for an 82-games/year and it's hard to play that style. But it is successful in the playoffs no doubt.

Well except when he crushed Getzlaf last night literally knocking him on his can.

In my armchair quarterback position I agree 100%. He could have just left it as it is and skated back into the play. But he didn't.
Why wasn't the ref wondering: "Gee, I wonder why Perry got tangled up with Hamilton as he was rushing to get back into the play?" At centre ice of all places? The two players get tangled up and then as they both get up Hamilton does the "Hey! his stick is stuck in my jersey! But I'm actually holding onto it" Routine. After Perry interfered with his ability to get back into the play. And after Lindholm held Chiasson's stick for like 60 seconds a period before. There should either be two penalties in that scenario, or none at all.
I don't subscribe to the reffing conspiracy theory against the Flames, but I don't know how anyone can't be pissed off at the refs about that call.
Hamilton deserves criticism for a lot of undisciplined play this series, but in my opinion he doesn't deserve it for that play alone.

I watched the game and felt one way. Came on this board and am shocked at the criticism of the Flames playing 'poorly' in this game.
Bad penalties did us in again, and it sure is beginning to feel like a curse at the HC. But for 55 min, that was nearly a perfect road game. Carried the play, were disciplined (for 55 min), and IMO looked like the group turned the corner.
The result was extremely disappointing but that's by FAR the best this team has looked in Anaheim in ~10 years.

Painfully obvious what Perry was doing. He interfered with Dougie allowing a 2 on 1 chance to develop.
Baffling they only call Dougie for a hold after allowing so much to go up to that point.

It's got to be frustrating for the Flames knowing the Ducks have the refs in their back pocket. Still when they fought back and tied the game, that seemed to satisfy the Flames. There had no finishing instinct which I guess is typical of a young team but what the hell did we get Brouwer for if not to show the way at this time.

Will be interesting to see what GG's message to the team is and if he makes any lineup changes. That's a hard loss to swallow, hard to sell the same message of building on the positives like they did after game 1. It might help to put in Lazar or Freddie just to get the energy and excitement back into the room, not sure who you sit though.

Even at that they still could have killed the powerplay but didn't. They still had time after the powerplay goal to tie it up but Brodie threw a wrench into that with an incredibly selfish penalty. The team was undisciplined and has been all season. The officials know it, we know it, everyone knows it. The Flames and Ducks were 1/2 in penalties this season and the difference in this series is that the Ducks have been the more disciplined team for the most part. Their players are doing a better job and so is their coach at maintaining their focus on the goal. I have no issue with the penalty and am more upset about the replay no-goal as I feel that's been called a goal on the Flames numerous times this season. Game's over now and it's 2-0 and no point feeling sorry for ourselves as they can show up tomorrow and make this a series.

You obviously missed me as you are trolling me for a reply to my obviously correct point.
The comment by AC indicates that he is wearing homer glasses, and perhaps beer glasses for his opinion on the play. That would be called the same way the vast majority of the time no matter what players, teams or refs were involved. If AC is not impaired by blatant homerism it would indicate that he has not watch a significant amount of NHL hockey.
There are maybe 20 picks, screens, fighting for the same position on the ice each and every game that might be called interference. The Refs call about 5% of them. They call 90% of holding the stick.
They missed the holding of the stick by Lindholm but also let go Chaisson's 3 cross checks as a way of apologizing.
I am not taking a radical stance or overly agressive stance in this situation at all..
I did not see you calling out Mr. McGrath for his blatant bad stupid comment in the write up

Has to be Dougie Hamilton for his holding the stick call on Cory Perry. Tie game with 6 minutes to play in the third period and you choose to do something that a referee has no choice but to call? He has to be better than that

I think people have every right to be a little suspicious of someone that was on a Hamilton witch hunt for months on end, but then disappeared when he became one half of what many feel became the best d pairing in hockey ...
Only to reappear when he took too many penalties in back to back playoff losses.

How about the holding the stick by Montour for Gio, which they show on replay?
