Why I said earlier this season why you don't build a team around a small skilled winger. Playoffs are a different beast than regular season

Just got finished reading this thread. Yikes. Hope some people cool off a bit after some sleep. The Flames could have won the first game, should have won last night. They still need to win one game in Anaheim, nothing's changed. I still think they're winning this series. Looking forward to Game 3.

And I wonder if we should just put in generic titles for the PGT from now on instead of some over the top, emotional headlines.

Definitely agree, generic titles. Heartbreaking was okay in title but the rest was not necessary and debatable.

Brodie penalty was dumb and likely out of pure frustration. Hamilton penalty extremely borderline. No goal call typical of our season.

Elliott early goals unfortunate but he settled down after that.

Otherwise an effort we should all be proud of.

Still shaking my head at what I heard from our announcers. Shameful words!
Play that back to the boys and we rally at home to tie this 2-2.

I will be surprised if this does not go 6 games at least.

I was pretty heated last night, so I can see where some of the more ridiculous posts are coming from, but with some time to reflect on the game, I don't think the situation is as bad as it seems. There is plenty of reasons to carry optimism into game three, so shout-out to posters who were level headed in their post-game thoughts.

Why can't Dougie Hamilton played more aggressive(in a good way)? He has the size, play more like Pronger Dougie.

The Flames are really missing that aggressive defencemen, someone like Regher.

You're thinking about 28 year old Chris Pronger, not 23 year old Chris Pronger

Home crowd will be the X factor. I have faith we can tie this sucker up.

I disagree. It seemed to be he sped up his follow through quite a bit. Not a normal follow through, if you know what I mean.

Very entertaining and trying series so far. Looking forward to the Flames playing behind the C of Red and tie it up.

You are right, I don't buy that nonsense either:

Nikita Kucherov
Brad Marchand
ARTEMI PANARIN

Are all good players, there is something wrong with Johnny, hopefully the GM and coaches can sit down with Johnny and see what his problem is.

Re-watching the recap/highlights from yesterday, there were some bright spots, but they were all over us. Seeing them struggle to even just start rushes cleanly and get out of our own zone is painful (and didn't make for pretty or entertaining hockey).

I fully expect we can win both at home, but we need to bring both physicality and finesse to game 5 at Honda.

Worst part is the Ducks are beatable, even with our terrible performance, their D is weak enough we could have won had Elliott not bone headed those first 2 goals

Yeah hoping the line matching advantage will benefit the flames next game.

Also hoping the game and post game threads are actually readable.

Slept on it and here's what I saw.

Horrible breakouts. Glens system not executed close to what it needs to be.
Discipline. I'd say it was better but through it all Anaheim benefitted from more poor officiating and a disallowed goal. That was in and everything the announcers were trying to sell was horse pucky.

Last night I think I realized why Brouwer is in ahead of Ferlund on the Power play and other situations. Face offs . That's it.

Beyond that there is no reason for Glen to not swap Ferlund in for Brouwer.

Johnny played better but the damn fear has the best of him. He's obviously in pain or has mental trauma as I've no answers for what ails him.

Substituted players has to be the theme in game 3

In F Hamikton, Hathaway , Lazar

Out Bouma, Stajan, Chiasson even though Chiasson really didn't hurt the team but I don't think his team mates like him.

Johnson is not the answer so Rittich or Gillies needs to play unless 2 softies by Elliott doesn't bother you?

Hamilton getting called for holding . Did you watch the replay? I did and that was a reach by the officials of monumental proportions.

That crap was happening all over the ice and they decide let's pick one that hurts the most and call it....bad call imho.

We were in this game. You don't come back like that and lose legitimate ....it takes a special kind of horse blinder to not see peripherally all the stuff going on.
Non calls and calls is what this series has been about.

I'd like to see Gelinas behind the bench with Cameron up in the booth. A new direct voice and direction perhaps helps.

I noticed several times last night Glen standing behind Brouwer talking.
Wondering what was being said because it made Zero difference.

Down 2 zip to a team that doesn't deserve a lead . We played hard last nite and the scoreboard was missing a goal and the difference maker.

So when we play perfect we better win right? Right. Flames deserved a better fate tbqh......I hope they come back tie it and turn it into a best of 3 so a certain some one can eat crow and go away and cheer on his jets that didn't make the playoffs .

That's two times in the last three games in Anaheim that Elliot has let in a goal from the boards on his glove side. He also nearly whiffed on another one from that side in the 3rd. Figure it out Elliott, those are backbreakers

All those guys are bigger than Jonny by 20 lbs or so. They are small by NHL standards. Jonny is tiny.

If he's not creating scoring chances, he's not bringing anything to the table.

The Marchand comparison is way off.

I was just going by size as much as possible but you are right. Johnny needs to do a lot soul searching right now.
