Default NHL acquires Seattle Metropolitans trademark

For Canada only. A 26-year-old entrepreneur controls American trademark.

I'm guessing it's for "Vintage" merchandizing rather than a sign of an impending franchise. But still noteworthy.

I think there'd be a problem with a team called the Metropolitans when there's a Metropolitan Division.

What a stupid possible name. Why rep your city when you could do your entire state:

Washington Generals

You'd have a team in Washington called the Metropolitans and another team in Washington playing in the Metropolitan division. That would be hilarious.

feels too easy to make fun of....

"hey we playing the Seattle Metrosexuals"...

i'd personally preferred something like Sea Wolves (though that might be taken).... the "Monorails" would be awesome!

Naming the division the "Metropolitan Division" was by far the stupidest name they could have chosen.

This was last week:

2 individual proposals, one being AEG to fund and renovate Key Arena to lure NBA and NHL to Seattle.

I wonder if Seattle would sell out their playoff games? Something Calgary can't seem to do.

It'll happen this off season when we're all sad and crying about the terrible playoff performance.

It's all in the plan.

If a city like Calgary isn't selling out playoff games, then it's because the ticket prices are too high. However, it could mean that overall revenue from sales is optimized.
