No, a new building would mean higher prices and higher costs, because that new building has got to be paid for. ‘Even higher profit margins’ is not a given.

As an aside, if you do have money to spend on expensive tickets, and maybe assumed they'd be impossible to get direct, there are hundreds available. You can get pairs in almost any price point in the arena.

Wait, so you're telling me we haven't sold out yet? The first few comments in this thread sounded like they were sold out and "supply and demand" was why the prices were so high. Apparently the supply is still high and the demand is low at those prices.

Going to suck if the Flames don't lower the price and the dome isn't sold out.

The Flames have sold all of their tickets- it's now in the secondary market. The difference this year is that when you pay $300 for a ticket in the secondary market, the Flames now got $120 of that $300 instead of $75.

Nope, ticketmaster has plenty of tickets still available, that's what I was reffering to. You can get pairs almost anywhere in the Dome. Price difference aside, there's actually more tickets available to games at the Honda Centre for tonight's game then games 3 and 4 in Calgary.

Also, the Flames getting more money from the tickets on the secondary markert is not new this season, they employed the same strategy in 2015. That's why there was hundreds of tickets available minutes before puck drop for the first home game against the Ducks in round 2 that year (don't care that they "distributed tickets" to make it a sell out, the blocks of seats were clearly empty for the game).

I see a handful of pairs for $250 each for Monday's game, and up from there. There's a few pairs at $366 each for Wednesday's game, and then up from there. Plus some obstructed view seats in the PL.

It looks like Ticketmaster has gone back to combining regular sales and NHL Ticket Exchange, so maybe that is what you are looking at. Anything in pink is resale- so already sold once by the Flames.

Yeah I just looked and there are literally dozens, maybe even more than 100, available for game 3.

When resale is included it says 500+ available. Doesn't seem to give me the number when I filter out resale.

Ken you can filter out resale. I'm on the app and it is literally pages of scrolling. Multiple sections, multiple price points. All direct.

Not surprising is that the best value, greens and orange, have none available. It is all PL then whites and up.

Correct, if they haven't sold out, then prices are too high. That's the only indicator that would tell us if prices are actually too high.

Game 4 has less available. Couple dozen tops and mostly reds or higher.

Monday night at 8pm of Easter weekend might be part of it too. The worst possible night to have a home game probably of the entire playoffs.

OK, just counted. 18 pairs for game3 around the $240 per ticket range. A dozen seats together in the back of PL2 for $109 each. The rest are single seats, or seats in the $366-525 range.

My point being, most of the "affordable" tickets the Flames had available are sold. I wouldn't consider 24 pairs being in the "not sold out" or "plenty of seats in all price ranges" categories. Cecil is correct, there are literally dozens of pairs available- two dozen.

Lots of resale tickets at or below face-value for games 3 and 4.

A win tonight might improve the resale market, a loss will tank it even worse.

This is what's putting me in a better mood this morning, as I bet resale playoff tickets will now be much more reasonable to game 3. Gonna do my darndest to be at the Dome on Monday

Anyone knows how much is the retail price for a pair of co-op playoff tickets?

Face value $125 and that's what coop sell them for. Plus GST. They were $260 and change for the pair.

Ticketmaster resale tickets have to be quite a bit below face value to make up for the 20% 'service fee' attached to each ticket. Just looked at a couple listed at $299 each. Comes to $711.62 with 'free' email delivery. Absurd.

I am thinking the people expecting to re-sell through Ticketmaster at higher than face value are in for a rude awakening.

For example, one ticket at the glass the Flames sell for $534.45 all in (less than $10 in fees)...the same ticket marked up to $680.00 for resale is $829.60 with the service fee included. The funniest part is seeing the pink seat sitting there for resale right beside the blue one that the Flames haven't managed to sell yet.

And it gets worse for every ticket you add, because the resale service fee is the 20% on each ticket at the sale price whereas if you buy multiple tickets from the Flames, you only pay one 'order processing' portion of the fee and a $6.10 flat service fee per ticket.

Hahahahahahaha...
