I think an announcer said in the Toronto/Washington game that there was only 2 or 3 penalties all game? Wow. Would have liked to have that crew do our game...

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Hey I agree, and I'm not going to argue with you, I wasn't happy with Brouwer, but after his previous playoff performance you need to give him every chance to show that he's a big game player, especially a guy with his level of experience.

Clearly he wasn't.

And I clearly understand the three losses math, I think most of us do, we're not new.

But right now, its one loss, its happened its done, hopefully the team bounces back on Saturday.
When you're playing a divisional for in the playoffs, and can see what guys are shining it's easy. When you over think it you lose.

People are mad because of the very things you named that cost them the game. This seems pretty straight forward.

Honestly, it was a good hockey game and I really don't understand why some people are so negative about all of it.

A couple of brutal mental mistakes and a complete lack of discipline is what cost the team tonight. They were in this game until the very end and almost tied it but Gibson made an incredible save.

You aren't going to win many games giving up 7 power plays, plain and simple.

Ok I'm flying to LAX on Saturday afternoon for game 2. What do we need to do to break the curse? Should we all bet $1000 against the flames? Should I buy a ducks jersey and wear that instead? I'm desperate for a win here at the Honda center. Suggestions?

Well one plus is that I made $65 betting $100 on the Ducks winning tonight, the Flames ineptitude in Anaheim makes for some easy gambling. Might as well let it ride for game 2, will help ease the sting a bit when they lose that one

Gulutzan has his work cut out for him at the moment.

Undisciplined play really cost this game more than anything else. Sure, that was an outright embarrassing line change that cost them, and it was an equally embarrassing 5 on 3 (though Getzlaf was doing his impression of Gandalf all night - freakin' wizard), but it was the undisciplined play that really cost the Flames.

I really liked Bouma's game right up until he took that penalty. I think that only gets called 50-50, but that is a big chance to take for not much reward.

Gulutzan has to find a way to make Gaudreau relevant. Anaheim simply made him invisible for most of the night. Gulutzan has to figure out how to make Getzlaf irrelevant. His play right now is better than any other center in the NHL - Crosby included. He was such a force all over the ice. Getzlaf was simply dominating.

Unimpressed with Brouwer - I think the Flames could either replace him with a speedier Hamilton out there, a speedier Lazar out there, or at least try and call up Hathaway in an effort to get the Ducks off their game a bit.

Most of all - quit playing undisciplined hockey. The Flames are not the Jets. Jets are stupid lousy in large measure due to their undisciplined play. Few (if any) penalties were of the good kind tonight. You can't beat a team like Anaheim by placing yourself shorthanded so often.

You have to focus on the positives too. Flames hung in there right until the end. Elliott played fantastic - a team can win a cup with a goalie like Elliott. Flames created a lot of really good chances. Ferland is not quite as physical as he was against Vancouver, but he sure as hell is a lot more dangerous - he created or put himself in position for a load of chances tonight.

Brouwer wasn't 'awful', but can anyone really say he was helping tonight? Flames need more speed to combat Anaheim here, and though there is ZERO chance of it happening, I would rather see Lazar or Hamilton in his spot right now. I don't think he deserves to sit - he wasn't bad at all - but he just isn't being much of a driver at all out there. When Stajan is noticeably more physical, it becomes a glaring issue for me. Wasn't bad, but at the same time rather glaring, if that makes any kind of sense.

Oh well, Flames hung in there, and just need one damn bounce to go their way next game. A more disciplined game might have really changed this game completely.

Sure but when your playing angry or looking for retaliation you can't execute your part of the game plan.

do you think Kesler is a rage machine? Or Getzlaf?

The guys that can channel their emotions and control them last a lot longer in this league. The guys who can't don't last long.

in a game where you need all the help you can get, this is pretty unforgivable, especially having brouwer out there on the 5 on 3 instead.
Mind bottling. Go with the obvious hot hand.

I wish Brouwer would tweak something just enough Gulutzen has mo choice but to replace him. Because hope all we want the coaches all of them are blind to Brouwers useless play. I mean the turd actually wears a letter. A guy that has Zero passion all season the coaches have him wearing a letter.
There is nothing that makes sense about Brouwer wearing a letter about Brouwer on the ice at end of the game
Please fall down getting out the shower Brouwer.

Well yeah they didn't. We don't need you to remind us of that. Game is over so what are you going to do? You can whine about it for the next day and a half but it's not going to change the fact that they lost and have to win four of the next six. Self inflicted wounds absolutely but I was somewhat encouraged that 5 on 5 they were on the same level of the Ducks. If they play a smarter, more disciplined game may still be able to make a series of this.

Insulting me (the one who points out the truth) is certainly going to make this bottom feeding team win... Yeah... and monkeys might fly out of my butt...

Flames had the game plan to beat the Ducks mid game.

Limit penalties and shut down Getzlaf. They win If they do thst

I've defended Gulutzan a lot this year but his personnel decisions have been borderline idiotic. I also feel like his game management has at times been poor. Did a really bad job of settling the team down and refocusing them for the 3rd and the late PP.
