You don't win or lose a series in Game 1. I dunno, I just can't get my head around jumping off bridges or saying BS like "I refuse to watch Game 2." Get a life.
And that has you encouraged for the rest of the series?

Ducks didnt play their best game but still easily won. flames team besides stupid mistakes is lacking skilled possession 1-2 centers. monahan and backlund are not those guys.

Which is why it's gonna have to be Bennett and Tkachuk to carry the team here. Johnny isn't going to make an impact against physical teams. He's neutralized against them.

Good news is Flames kept in. Bad news is Ducks could've played better.

It would be nice if the defensive pairings for the power play were maybe switched up with the forward unit. Brodie is a terrible power play QB this year.

Wideman in for Bartkowski please. Bart was downright awful. Always making stupid pinches and giving up the puck for no reason.

Why are we so dumb against the Ducks?

They constantly outsmart us (Getzlaf in particular). It's coming down to the mental game, tbh. Each player needs to be accountable individually and be making intelligent plays more than idiotic gaffes.

Such a shame they let that lead go on their own accord. Learn and do better next game.

The "curse" is self fulfilling at this point.

The Flames were clearly using it as an excuse through most of that last period.

When a team is convinced it cannot win in a rink they find ways to make it happen.

I have a theory, back when I lived in Calgary, I would host playoff games with the Flames at my house, I had built a nice home theater with a big projection screen, anyhow there was this one friend who would either be the Flames biggest fan or if we get even a goal scored on, acted as if it was the end of the world.. It got so bad I stopped inviting him and had to make up lies to keep him away from our game nights.

I think maybe these people vent here like its the end of the world are doing it online instead of to their spouses, friends, family (hopefully anyhow) and maybe that helps their poor friends and family

The Flames got worked in the face off dot. It's easy to protect a lead when you start every draw with possession. This will be a problem all series.
Other than that, the Flames didn't get beat in honest even strength. A lucky bounce, a dumb play and poor discipline equals playoff loses. It is as simple as that. The silver lining is that those are easy to fix.

I hope the Flames stay out of this the whole series.
They aren't going to win this way. They never have and they never will.

Oh my god. Your team had a 5-on-3 basically to finish the game and you still complain about officiating. If that interference call was the other way around you would freak out. Do all Flames' fans moan about the refs so much?

The key to winning against the Ducks is to play a disciplined game for 60 mins.

Flames were doing pretty good until that bad change and never got completely back on track.

That might have been the worst game all season for Backlund and by far the worst game for Hamilton in 6 months. Hopefully it's just nerves.

Also Brodie on the powerplay sucks.

They took over the second until the line change. They can win this series if they dont let this loss get to them.

This was one of the last chances I was willing to give Brouwer. All year we've been assuring ourselves "he'll show up in the playoffs"... and breaking the Honda curse to start the series is pretty damn important.

Not much out of him tonight.

I continue to hate the Ducks with all my heart.
Kessler you and your family will suffer flat tires at inopportune moments, leading to ridicule and scorn. Getzlaf your baldness is irreversible ha! Perry enjoy indigestion woes for like a half decade. Bieksa must take part in career ending jury duty.

I curse you.

I think it makes me more angry that we beat ourselves. Dumb penalties, poor performances from key guys, crappy PP, bad giveaways etc.

It'd be way less anger inducing if we played well and they were just better.

Lol.

The Ducks are so far a superior team in every single dept, that statement almost sounds like trolling sarcasm.
