Jokes aside it's true though about the baiting. I imagine it will be a matter of minutes into game one before Perry gets in Eilliot's face tapping him and slashing at his hands when covering the puck in hopes that Elliott or a Flames defenseman retaliates. How many shifts before Kesler puts his glove or elbow to a Flame's face in the corner with himself in position so the official plainly sees any retaliation? One would think the Flames have learned by now but they never seem to as Kesler drew an elbowing retaliation penalty last game doing just that. It's going to be really important for the Flames players to keep their cool and not be selfish because that plays into the Ducks hands. There are plenty of teams that can ignore the Ducks antics but the Flames seem to have trouble turning the other cheek. They need to and Elliott really needs to ensure that the Ducks earn their goals as it seems like the Ducks get a lot of bounces their way and the tables need to turn.
The retaliation needs to be harsh enough to discourage future baiting.
If they think they're getting a penalty, might as well make it worth while instead of some lame Wideman-ish call.
I think Backlund, not Monahan, will be the key to our success in the playoffs this year.
Obviously we'll need to get production/great all-around play from our best players (Monahan, Gaudreau), but I think Backlund is our most important player, maybe not in the future, but certainly this season.
I think he becomes a significant target of Ducks stupidities. Maybe even moreso than Gaudreau
Flames, to a man, need to step up. They are going to need to battle in every situation but also stay disciplined. You know the Ducks will be crashing the net hard with a rookie (more than likely at this point) as the back up. Flames will need to be tough and try and keep it to a minimum. I really hope Bouma-Stajan-Brouwer can step up and play some tough minutes. They should be around 10-12 tops for these games but they need to keep that puck low and get it out quick.
The key to me is speed. The Flames really need to get in on the forecheck fast and limit the Ducks time setting up in the offensive zone. Once the Ducks start to cycle we are in tough as our D our not really known to be cycle busters.
I am so giddy with nervous energy! playoffs are awesome!

If Perry goes after our goalie with a slash we do the same. Crash the net HARD.
Malone: You wanna know how to get the Ducks? They slash someone, you pull a gun. they sends one of the flames to the hospital, The Flames send one of the Ducks to the morgue. *That's* the *Calgary flames* way! And that's how you get the Ducks. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?

The CPO anthem from 2015 was awesome though

Just saw a picture of the Sens building putting the playoff towels on the seat and it just bugs me.
The Flames don't do towels or anything of the sort if i recall. I understand the fans take it upon themselves to do the C of Red but even in Philly where they wear the orange jerseys....the flyers hand out orange towels.
Its great and all that the fans have the onus to do the C of Red and it makes it look authentic but honestly...it just makes the Flames ownership/management look cheap.
thats just something that grinds my gears.
I am personally the exact opposite and find the towels and other handouts completely lame and utterly distracting to watch on TV. It "means" a lot more to me to see the entire Saddledome in red due to everyone's own volition and not some tacky towel easily given to everyone so that they all look the same. I like the uniqueness that is the C of Red! Go Flames!

Brian Elliott and Chad Johnson are taking all the shots at practice...which leads me to believe Johnson will back-up Elliott in Game 1.
