Why are people so upset by this? Nobody's making these people pay money, anyone who would pony up cash for this is asking for it. I'm all for Oilers hate but this one is a "haha stupid oiler fans" not the orginization.

Not sure why you think I'm upset about it?
I said imagine how bad the Dome would be if the Flames did it? The concourse is tight enough, then you throw a bunch of people in there who don't have seats. I have no idea what the Oilers rink is like.

The Flames have done it. I bought standing room only tickets to a couple playoff games.
They suck. You basically just end up at the bar or trying to find some people in suites you know.

But people will pay for it. And I feel for the fans that waited 11 years for playoffs, paid big money for actual seats, and now will have their experience lessened by the additional congestion in the concourse which is being facilitated by the team.
It's borderline offensive.

It'll be a uniuqe way for fans who couldn't grab actual tickets, to soak up the atmosphere of the building. It's almost pathetic what people hate on in this thread. With that said, Go Sharks!

This isnt new by any means. I remember being at playoff series against Dallas (Must have been 99?) and they had this as well.

From what I've read it said "limited number of passes" so is that 800 or 8000? Keep in mind buildings have to follow fire regulations also. So they legally can't start stuffing thousands and thousands of extra bodies into the arena.

Probably the same type of fans that pay to stand near the wheel chairs in the Saddledome. The Flames marked individual squares with yellow tape that you were allowed to stand in. You can't see the scoreboard, and you don't have a great view of the other end. Luckily no one stands up in front of you.

A lot of arenas sell Standing Room Only tickets that give you a view of the ice but no seat.
The Oilers are selling Standing in the Concourse to watch the game on tv tickets. That's why people are mocking them. It's an idea that deserves mockery.
I guess good on the Oilers for finding a way to get more money from their fans, but anyone who actually forks over $80 for those tickets absolutely deserves any mockery they receive.
