David Amber picked the Flames to win the western conference earlier today on Sportsnet. Picked them to lose to Washington.
I know those predictions mean nothing but they were the only team not named Chicago or Washington to be picked, just nice to see us get a little love in the media.

You guys are lucky to get your regional PBP guy. I thought you would get Randorf.
I'm surprised the Leafs got Hughson and I'm surprised Habs got Romanuk. Leafs had to suffer through Romanuk all season so it will be great to listen to Hughson.

Me too. Oilers will advance for sure. I think Flames have a chance.
Everytime I watch a Blackhawks game I'm not too impressed. Preds have a great team and Subban shines in the playoffs.

I think the key guy is Ferland. If he bangs and crashes like he did in 2015, Calgary has a chance.

I was surprised too see The Flames get CBC and the Oilers on Sportsnet, really thought it would be the other way around.

I think the fact that we have a playing Gio, Stone and Bartowski (on top of Engelland) on D, and now Tkachuk, Ferland, Bennett and hopefully Brouwer added or playing much more meaningful roles up front versus last time we played them in the playoffs is what's giving me the most hope.
We aren't going to win a street fight against the Ducks, but we aren't going to get pushed around this year and we have the right personnel to give our skilled guys the space and let them be difference makers. Plus, I think we are ripe and ready to reverse the antagonizer role in this series and steal it from the Ducks. I think our dicks have the moxy to out dick their dicks.

Bennett, Ferland and Tkachuk will be huge x-factors all of them. If 2 of 3 show up/elevate their games in the series I say they have a decent chance. One has to be Bennett though, cause that means your 3rd line is coming through for you on top of what the top 2 already bring.

Garrett is fine, he just plays to his audience. What a throwback to the good old days of Flames on 2&7 this will be.

I like Garrett. He always has some good observations, he knows the game.
And we hit the jackpot with Ball again.

Engellend is a key player for us in the first 2 games. He'll get a steady diet of Getzlaf and Perry when Anaheim has last change.
He has to play tough in front of the net and smart hockey. He's been doing it all year, but we could sure use a strong couple games from him right now.

I really wish there was a legal way to watch the NBC broadcast. I know streaming is possible but it's not very reliable. I just think NBC does a superior job to SN and even CBC broadcasting games.

Mods, is there some way to program the forum software to just auto-ban anyone who voted for the Ducks in 4?
Screw it, anyone who voted ducks at all.

As per post #461 in this thread, NBC will be using the CBC feed of the series.

People say that the Ducks are so tough and fight all the time. They lead the league in fights, with 46. However Cramarossa accounts for 7 and he's a Canuck. Stoner is on IR and he accounts for 2. The biggest is Jared Boll who has 15 fights and he also has 0 goals, 3 assists in 51 games this season. In other words, he's a liability. I doubt he's dressed unless one game gets completely out of hand. If you subtract those guys, the Ducks have 22 fights.
The Flames are 4th in the NHL in fights with 36. The only non-regular is Hathaway with 4, bringing the Flames to 32 fights. That's almost 50% more fights than the Ducks.
I think the Flames can hold their own.

Oh so they won't have their own people there? That's a bummer.

Flames in 7. Then we proceed to repeat 04 but the goal counts this time around.

The number of fighting majors a team is assessed has virtually no impact on how they will perform in the playoffs. Fighting is pretty much all but gone from the post season.

Last season, the Ducks led the league in fights in the regular season, and had none in the playoffs. 2 years ago, the Ducks were second in the league in regular season fights, and had none in the playoffs.

Playoff Series Thread: Ducks (1st Pacific) vs Flames (1st Wild Card)
Hmmm that's sad, no Chris Cuthbert for any NBC games this year. I like the way he calls games.
Glad we get Ball. I liked Garrett when he did our games back in the day. Why would he talk about the Nucks, I don't get people sometimes. Like how people criticize Hughson for being a Nucks homer in 2015, when it wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure he talked about Eddie Lack's dad as much he mentioned Sam Bennett being 18 years old.
