a few good coaches available to our inept division and conference rivals. Don't like easy and obvious decisions being presented on a platter for these bad GMs

I could see Willie going to the Stars, he has some history there.

Ruff would be an excellent fit for the Coyotes. Too bad they are married to Tippett long term though.

I think if Sutter gets fired he'll call it a day. At least for coaching. I'd love to add him in the player development strain.

I think teams will be waiting to see what happens with Darryl first before making a move.

Ruff is an interesting coach. He has always preferred to have more of an offensive system in place - Hartley and Ruff basically utilize the same system. I think they are both NHL quality coaches though, especially for young teams - they are both motivators and task masters who are both great at turning a team around quickly, but with longevity question marks.

If Sutter does indeed move on from LA, I would bet that some teams will inquire about him even though they are fine with who they have currently.

I do think that Trotz is safe though, probably for another year at least, unless the Caps lose in the first round. Trotz has that team playing really good hockey, and has made everyone buy-in - something that Boudreau (overrated) was never really able to do.

I wonder if Winnipeg will give him a call.
The Jets are going to be the Jets and give Maurice an extension.

Ryan Miller's head might actually explode if that happens.

Miller is a UFA, why would he care?

Gallant, Desjardins and Hitchcock are all in discussion for their Head Coach job. Per Darren Dreger.

In Ruff's first gig in Buffalo he was there for 14 plus seasons. Even in Dallas he survived 4 full seasons, and only this past one did the team play poorly.

I don't think Lindy Ruff should have any longevity question marks. Especially since he was saddled with two mediocre goal tenders with expensive contracts, and a really inexperienced defence this season.

"Hartley and Ruff basically utilize the same system"

I have not seen that in watching the two teams play.

Simply put, Calgary under Hartley was very much a chip chase and stretch team while the Stars , under Ruff, were far more of a puck possession and close puck support team.

Are you surmising they are similar or do you have some substantiation?

I have nothing to add other than I spent too much time this winter in Warburg.
