On that kind of play, where Wideman was up ice a bit, the off side defenceman fcoverss net front, the goalie has the puck carrier, and the other defenceman moves that way. Plus Andersson didn't look like he was going to rpthat side, so Wideman figured he had to, that's what I think happened.
