Leafs made it to the conference semi-finals that season. He said the Leafs didn't make the playoffs, so I'm assuming he is counting the lockout season, yes?

No...

He said "First time since 2004 that the Leafs make the playoffs in an 82 game season."

So yes, the Leafs made the playoffs in 2004, which is what he said.

Be gentle.

Talk about the playoffs is all very confusing for Leaf fans.

I really think we will be facing the Oilers in the first round.

I don't think there's any way Anaheim loses to LA tomorrow.

Yeah I know and what he said was technically right but a little disingenuous because the Leafs had no chance to make the playoffs the following season because there was no season. If you want to be fair it is since 2006 they haven't made it using your method since that is when the playoffs occurred (if you don't count the one fluke season) It's still pretty brutal but finally seems like they are maybe turning this franchise around.

Your sentence means something different than the original sentence, though.

Since 2006 they haven't made the playoffs in an 82 game season
and
They haven't made the playoffs in an 82 game season since 2004

...are both true sentences with slightly different meanings.

It has nothing to do with being disingenuous or fairness. Leafs suck, whether you're talking about the last time they made the playoffs (in a full season) or the first season they missed them.

1-0 Edmonton in the 2nd. I honestly don't see any way the Oilers lose either of these last two games. Canucks are on a whole other level of stink.

Anaheim probably wants 1st place though, so unless they completely crap the bed against LA tomorrow, we're definitely lookin' at Ducks/Flames in round 1.

They'll likely be resting their good players like Getzlaf and Perry so don't think it's that far fetched to believe. Of course the Oilers will have to take care of business but it's very possible.

I think if the division is still on the line tomorrow, the Ducks might not be resting a lot of guys. They'll want to win it. Just a hunch.

Funny seeing nurse pick a fight and lose.

He's turning into the new bieksa fighting guys who are unwilling or non fighters all the time. Rasmus Andersson, Horvat, jumping Polak for an imaginary infraction (which Haley beat him up for later). I'd say stick to playing hockey but he's not great at that either

Boeser with 4 goals in 8 games for the Canucks. Good start for him.
